With most of us believing that the sky is falling and we're down to interviewing Jim Wacker's ghost, it seems to be overlooked that we've heard next to nothing about the top tier candidates. While we can probably eliminate the inactive coaches because you can assume they would have been hired by now (unless one is a fallback), there's been barely the sniff of a rumor about the big time active coaches. Sure, Harbaugh is extremely doubtful and Doogie claims four people say he isn't interested, but no one knows for sure. Slightly more realistically, there's been nothing about Petersen, Patterson, Stoops (I'd consider him tier 1.5), Richt and others. (Though the recent comments by Richt about basically wanting to turn Georgia into a super power make it seem like he wants to stay there.)
I'm not at all saying that we're going to get a tier 1 guy and I know half of this forum thinks Minnesota is a hell hole that could never draw an attractive coach, but I think it's worthwhile to point out that there is no clear, factual information to discount this possibility.
