Terrible first game for Gopher coaches. All of their hard work managing expectations just went out the window. Now instead of four wins and a hopeful future, fans want and expect much more. Not smart at all.

Most amazing of all was the mistakes we made and still almose overcame:

1. Communication equipment failure in first half. We put Gray in a terrible position. Even so he only had a couple of delay penalties. For a young an making his first start in four years, he handled the adversity very, very well.

2. Kicking game issues. Don't know if it was bad blocking or low kicks, but I expect it will get straightened out.

3. Funny play calling in first half. Runs up the middle and failure to call plays to get Gray to the outside was confusing to me. TV announcers commented about this more than once.

If the line next week is less than twenty, I may fly to vegas to load up after taking out a second mortgage...or maybe not.

Terrible first game for Gopher coaches.

Go on the road against USC in that environment and have a chance to win it on your last drive? Hold an offense with multiple 1st round picks to 19 pts on their home turf? A lot of those zone reads Gray had the opportunity to pull it back and take it off tackle, but he chose to give it to the RB. Blocked kicks, USC has amazing linemen, they got some push back, nothing unexpected here. What a stupid and uninformed thread.

Also, you're blaming the coaching staff for having their headsets malfunction during the game? Really? I would go the opposite of you and say how even more impressive it was that they made the adjustment after having that happen. Just an utterly stupid post.

I hope you're being sarcastic. A close, almost come back and win, loss might be the best thing for this year's team long term. It proves they can play with more talented teams. It also keeps them hungry. I'm happy with the effort Now let's go destroy New Mexico St.

Headsets and management

Spot on Sonny! They apparently anticipated this and had a plan to work around this issue. They know the lesson of good communication isn't the media. It is the message. So, they went to the old school way of speaking directly to the players. Nothing novel about it. It is as old as language itself.

I'm glad the rest of you are correcting the OP and saw the same thing we Trojans saw...we applauded your team and coaches at the end of the game for playing tough, they were not intimidated one bit.

Sonny pretty much said it all.

Relax everyone, ncgo4 was trying to be funny.

Executive Summary - New name of this string STUPID POST

Just an utterly stupid post.

It seems that sonnygarcia's comment above pretty much sums up what people think of this string.

I think those that are getting after the OP need to get their sarcasm detectors a tune up. I take his initial statement with loads of sarcasm.

I took it as sarcasm also. That is the danger of comment boards and written sarcasm...sarcasm will die, unfortunately.

Same here. That's why I like to use one of those smiley things. Where the hell are they again?

19, right at the top of the reply to thread. :) :cool02: :D

I guess you could take it as sarcasm, and ncgo4 has always been a good poster so I'm sure that's all it was, but I don't like it when you have to sift through a really long post and analyze to determine sarcasm. Sarcasm should be short and sweet.

S & S :)

The OP has a good point in that now the expectations from Gold Country/Gopher Nation has risen. I know after that game, I expect at least two Gopher blow outs over NDSU and NMS and a solid win over Miami.

Is that a good thing? I dunno.

I think EXPECTING anything from game to game the next few weeks is dangerous. It makes me cautiously optimistic that we can handle all three teams though.
