I'm not suggesting he would have been the difference maker for the Gophers this season, but nice to see Eskridge have a solid season. As I recall, his reason for transferring was not due to any issues with the new regime but for family reasons. This snippet's from Matt Brown (Sports on Earth) and stats for the season:

De’Leon Eskridge, RB, San Jose State: We’ve previously addressed San Jose State’s remarkable season, and the Spartans finished it off on another high note with a 52-43 win against Louisiana Tech to move to 10-2, with the only losses coming to Stanford by three and WAC champion Utah State. A transfer from Minnesota, Eskridge had the biggest game of his one-year Spartans career against Louisiana Tech, running 28 times for 217 yards and three touchdowns.

Remember though, that if he had not transferred, he would have used up his eligibility last year.

Meh. I watched part of the game and he's still the same player he was here. Not real big or strong, not very fast and doesn't break many tackles, but he runs hard and gets the yards the line creates

Saw a part of the game. He played well, but I think that he got a 15 personal foul for something (rare for a running back).

Good player. Wish he could have played here under better circumstances. Problem for him is that he doesn't have the burst to be the one-cut back that works best in the offenses that seem to be in vogue these days. Good "read" runner who can catch the ball fairly well.
