Thanks for putting that together. I added the opponents.

That's a pretty good list of games, looks like a good Bowl season!

Missouri, Auburn or USC would have all been great opponents and would be competitive games, imo. But glad we got the Citrus regardless. :)

My guess:

How many Big10 wins do the readers see here?

Thanks for the opponents, I'm adding conferences and conference records to get a feel for how well these set us up to compare B1G with other conferences:

B1G Bowls:
OSU-Sugar vs. Alabama (8-1 SEC champ vs. 9-0 B1G champ)
MSU-Cotton vs. Baylor (8-1 Big 12 co-champ vs. 7-1 B1G)
MD-Foster Farms vs. Stanford (5-4 Pac 12 vs. 4-4 B1G)
Rut-Quick Lane vs. North Carolina (4-4 ACC vs. 3-5 B1G)
PSU-Pinstripe vs. Boston College (4-4 ACC vs. 2-6 B1G)
Wisc-Outback vs. Auburn (4-4 SEC vs. 7-1 B1G)
Minn-Citrus vs. Missouri (7-1 SEC s. 5-3 B1G)
Neb-Holiday vs. USC (6-3 Pac 12 vs. 5-3 B1G)
Iowa-Tax vs. Tennessee (I think) (3-5 SEC vs. 4-4 B1G)
Illinois-Dallas vs. LA Tech (7-1 CUSA vs. 3-5 B1G)

The B1G ten definitely has a chance to show what it can do here.

B1G vs. SEC: 4 games. 2 fair matches and each conference has a chance to really embarrass itself. We get to see our best play their best in the playoffs, and a 3-5 Tennessee take on 4-4 Iowa. We can shut up the SEC people if a Minnesota team one game over .500 knocks of a 1 loss SEC team, but at the same time if one-loss Wisconsin falls to a .500 SEC team we have no room to gripe about SEC bias.

B1G vs. Pac 12: 2 pretty fair matchups, due to the nine game schedule, both Pac 12 teams were half a game better than their B1G opponents, but hopefully we grab a couple of wins here.

B1G vs. Big 12: 1 fair game as two one loss teams duke it out, arguably our second best against their second best.

B1G vs. ACC: I think we are better than the ACC, and we have a chance to show it as two losing B1G teams take on a pair of .500 ACC teams.

B1G vs. midmajors: Hopefully Illinois can take down 7-1 LA Tech to show that a bottom half B1G team is still better than an elite CUSA team.

Please note, when I say "fair", I mean that the game makes for a reasonable comparison between conferences as the two teams finished with the same or similar records in their conferences. If a 4-4 team from one conference beats a 4-4 team from another, that's good evidence that the first conference is better. Similarly, if Alabama took on Northwestern, that wouldn't tell us much at all. I think we got some reasonable matchups, and our bowl game record this year should paint a good picture of how good (or bad) the B1G is.

And yet, if tOSU can knock off Bama, it will make up for almost any number of B1G losses.

I think it is possible.

My guess:

B1G Bowls:
OSU-Sugar vs. Alabama
MSU-Cotton vs. Baylor
MD-Foster Farms vs. Stanford
Rut-Quick Lane vs. North Carolina
PSU-Pinstripe vs. Boston College
Wisc-Outback vs. Auburn
Minn-Citrus vs. Missouri
Neb-Holiday vs. USC
Iowa-Tax vs. Tennessee (I think)
Illinois-Dallas vs. LA Tech

I highly doubt the Big 10 goes 2-8. OSU, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, PSU, Illinois, Iowa, and MSU will all have competitive games. I see at worst 3 wins and at best 7 wins with 4-5 being likely.

I don't see a loss on the schedule...other than Wisconsin losing to Auburn.

OSU-Sugar vs. Alabama
MSU-Cotton vs. Baylor
MD-Foster Farms vs. Stanford
Rut-Quick Lane vs. North Carolina
PSU-Pinstripe vs. Boston College
Wisc-Outback vs. Auburn
Minn-Citrus vs. Missouri
Neb-Holiday vs. USC
Iowa-Tax vs. Tennessee (I think)
Illinois-Dallas vs. LA Tech

My guess on Big 10 wins: Rutgers, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois. I hope Ohio State wins but I don't expect it.

Think we see 5 wins. This isn't too bad a roster for the big ten. The only team I can't see winning is Rutgers.

Bowl season is a good time to bet the underdog. If a team gets a bowl in disappointing circumstances (they were slighted or lost a late season game) bet against. Opponents of these teams with something to prove are a decent bet.

So I like

Minny
Mich state
Auburn

Other picks

Alabama
Maryland
BC
NC
USC
Iowa
Illinois

PSU-Pinstripe vs. Boston College
Wisc-Outback vs. Auburn
Minn-Citrus vs. Missouri winnable, tho

I'm just excited that Auburn gets the BADgers. I moved down to Auburn in June and this will be a perfect way to prove myself to the locals by rooting for them to dismantle Wisconsin. I was really dreading the Auburn/Gophers matchup that would further alienate me from my neighbors.

This. Father in law was super excited because he thought his Auburn team was gonna get the Gophers. He suggested we make the trip for the game. I was secretly hoping we got someone else as I don't think we match up very well with Auburn.

Plus, if we lost I would have to quit my job and move out of the state. The heckling would quickly become unbearable.

Oh god, I'm an idiot

OH SNAP!

I've got a hard time seeing MSU beat Baylor.... The only chance MSU has is if Baylor lays an egg because their coach spends the next month bitching about not being in the playoff... Which is a REAL possibility.

The only team I can't see winning is Rutgers.

Not sure why. According to the Sagarin ratings, the Big Ten teams are rated lower than all (or almost all) of their opponents but Rutgers has one of the lowest point differentials (2) between them and the opponent. UNC isn't very good.

Rutzgers has some bad losses, but UNC's defense is just terrible as well. The game is in Detroit, which will feel more like home for the team from dodgy New Brunswick. I think Rutzgers will be more "up" going into this game.
