Projecting all except Illinois and Purdue will become bowl eligible from the Big 10. Indiana is on the fence, but I'll project an upset win over Wisconsin does the trick.

Iowa (11-1, 7-1, Rose)
Penn State (11-1, 7-1, BCS at-large)
Ohio State (9-3, 6-2, Capital One)
Wisconsin (9-3, 5-3, Outback)
Michigan State (7-5, 5-3, Champs Sports)
Michigan (7-5, 3-5, Alamo)
Minnesota (6-6, 3-5, Insight)
Northwestern (6-6, 3-5, Pizza-Pizza)
Indiana (6-6, 3-5, at-large if other conferences can't fill bowl slot)

Pizza-Pizza

officially called the Little Caesar's Bowl, I believe.

I don't think the Big Ten gets two teams in the BCS. I think because of this the Big Ten teams don't have to 'play up' against other conferences, which should contribute to a much better overall Big Ten bowl record.

There are 10 BCS bowl spots. I think that TCU and BYU each take one of those. Then there are the 6 conference champions. It's pretty much a guarantee that 2 SEC teams out of Florida, Bama, and LSU make it. That leaves one spot. Assuming Iowa loses to Ohio State it's much more likely that the Pac Ten fills that other at large spot with either USC or Oregon.

Do you mean BYU or Boise State. I don't think either happens. BYU has 2 losses in the MWC,they are not going to a BCS bowl, and i think only the higher ranked of Boise/ TCU goes.

Its all about attendence, or so we have heard before, so if it comes down to Penn State and their ability to sell 50,000 tickets or Boise State and their ability to sell 15,000....PSU gets the nod every day of the week.

gopherguy05...I agree with you because money talks, unfortunately all it ever says to me is............ "Good Bye".

I wonder if the Insight Bowl would choose a 6-6 Northwestern team over a 6-6 Minnesota team for the reason that we've been there 2 out of the past 3 seasons.

As said earlier, I'm assuming you meant Boise St. instead of BYU. And only one of the two non-BCS undefeateds (assuming both finish that way) will go to a BCS bowl - whichever one finishes with a higher BCS ranking.

I predicted three years ago that Tempe would become our new Nashville, and it's looking more and more like I'll be correct and we'll end up bowling there three times in four years. As much as I love going there for the Insight Bowl, I hate going to the same place over and over again. However, I'll take it if it means avoiding Detroit (and playing in something so ridiculous as the "Little Caesars Bowl").

A win over Michigan State could be huge in the bowl pecking order. If the Gophers beat Sparty and finish 7-5, and MSU goes on to lose to Penn State and finish 6-6, the Champs Sports Bowl would be forced to take Minnesota, since six-win teams cannot be selected ahead of seven-win teams. This, of course, is dependent on the Big Ten getting two teams into the BCS, which would be a shoe-in in this scenario, with PSU going 11-1. Then we'd have:

BCS: Iowa/Penn State
Cap One: Ohio State
Outback: Wisconsin
Alamo: Michigan
Champs: Minnesota
Insight: Michigan State
Pizza: Northwestern

If the Big Ten only got one team into the BCS, I would rather just drop off the Big Ten bowl radar altogether and land an at-large bid in a game that didn't have enough qualifying teams from its anchor conferences.

Penn State

Despite its weak nonconference schedule and the current national perception of the Big 10, I can't envision any scenario where an 11-1 Penn State wouldn't get a BCS bid.

2 title game (let's say Texas vs. Alabama/Florida winner)
4 other automatics (ACC, Big East, Big 10, Pac 10)
1 of Boise State/TCU (but only if they're undefeated)
Penn State
USC (if it loses to Oregon)
Alabama/Florida loser

ACC, Big East & probably Big 12 have no chance for 2 bids. No way a second undefeated non-BCS school would get an at-large bid over Penn State or even a 2-loss USC.
