Better Career as a Gopher?

Let the Debate begin.

Decker vs MBIII

I'll bite.

Decker. Only because he will own all of the receiving records by the time he is done. Barber had a shot at a few rushing records, I suppose, if he would have stayed for 4.

Barber probably will have the better pro career imo.

Decker. 4 years. he wins based on loyalty. Only aplies, however, if you could leave and be a pro. Out of all the pro talent weve had in my lifetime, he sticks out as the most loyal and only one who will be the best of his position in school history. MB3 is probably top5 RB's in school history.

Decker. Maybe it could have been Barber had he stayed for 4 years and wouldn't have had to split carries. Hopefully the Gophers win a bowl game or beat Iowa this year, not beating Iowa, Wisconsin, or winning a bowl game has been a downer for what is otherwise a fantastic college career.

I am going to say Decker for sure. I know MBIII was a great gopher and is a great NFL Running Back, but there were times where I am not so sure Barber was even the best running back on the team. Man, saying that, how fun was it watching Barber and Maroney???

MBIII was at the U for four years, and I believe he even played a game or so in all four years, wasn't his medical redshirt after week 1 or 2? My memory is kinda blury on that...

Decker, he's shown so much pure ability in his position. We've had a terrible line and he's had some lame ducks lobbed his way on a pretty consistent basis over his career, yet he still reels in catch after catch, even in double coverage.

I love MBIII, but Decker's success is so much more dependant on a group of guys protecting the qb long enough so a play can develop, and even at that, the qb has to throw a catchable ball. Rb requires holes being made by the line and a successful handoff. That's it.

Probably have to go with Decker on this one. Two great Gophers.

I'd have to go with Decker. I'm throwing stats out the window for this. MBIII was a great running back to be sure. But we had others who were pretty good behind him. It would have been a step back if we hadn't had MBIII, but we would have taken an even bigger step back without Decker. Decker was more essential to this team than MBIII was.

I mean no slight whatsoever to MBIII, of course.

Decker.
1. 4 years vs 3
2. Best player on team (BY FAR!) for 3 years. MBIII was great but not it's debatable if he was better than Maroney for much of his time.
3. Already owns and will own nearly all major records for his position.
