Watching Purdue take it to Wisconsin. They are not going to be easy to beat at home in Byrd's final game. I know the conventional wisdom is that we are in the tournament now, but....... I don't want to see us sweat this out. Get to 9 wins against Nebraska and all doubt is gone.

I was having a very similar conversation with a couple of friends of mine yesterday. They listed the gopher bona fides at 8-10 and I couldn't argue that much. However, every year the committee "punishes" one or two schools that look good on paper but don't pass the eyeball test. At 8-10 we would be a prime candidate. Nebraska looked pretty damn good yesterday in Champagne. These next two games won't be easy, especially coming at this point in our season.

There's no way Nebraska should be able to play with us. However, there is no way a lot of the things that have happened this year should have. I feel 90% sure we will beat them- it's that other 10% that bothers me.

Selection Sunday - if you want to step in here and tell me not to worry- we are in solidly regardless....please do. :)

You want them to lose so Tubbs gets fired right?

We are in, solidly. But who wants to just be in, with a #11 seed when we can win a few games and get a #6 seed, or better?!

But I really hope that Wisconsin can pull this game off, and it amazes me that I find myself cheering for Wisconsin, but NOTHING good comes from Purdue winning this game. Nothing good for Minnesota, that is.

Other than the satisfaction of seeing the Badgers lose, that is, but I want the Gophers to be the team beating them, not the lowly Boilermakers.

Boilers are gonna win. I don't care too much, we're still a game up on the Boilers, and now the red menace basically can't win the championship.

Skunks lose. Bozo with the Kramer haircut has put a curse on Becky. The sour look on the skunk fans is priceless. The score could have been worse. Becky banked in 3 from the arc.

Not me Johnnyboy. I've never once, not ever, wanted the Gophers to lose for any reason. I want Tubby to be fired if he deserves to. We'll see how that goes.

They'll beat Nebraska.

I feel like that always needs to come with the caveat that if we show up and play hard we will beat Nebraska. This season, it seems like every time we get some momentum in conference and feel like all is good, something stupid happens. We need to start working our way into a better seed, and this road game is huge.

X2 Never, ever , want Wisconsin to win. Their system sucks, their coach sucks and their players suck! The most unentertaining team, year and year out in basketball!

As much as it is always nice to see Wisconsin suffer and lose. Their being a Top 25 RPI team, made our Resume look a lot better. Also, we played them twice and only play Purdue once, so its a double negative and Purdue is so far gone, their winning does no good really.

Wisconsin losing is bad for the RPI, but good for the soul. :)

If MN wins the next two, then the opening round and quarterfinal in the BTT, then lose in the semi's - what kind of seed are they looking at? They would be 24-10 with a 10-8 regular season and 12-9 overall B10 record...looking at a 5 or 6 in that case? I dont think they can play themselves into a top 4 unless they make the BTT finals?

I think 5-6 is accurate. If we make it to the semifinals, that would mean one more quality win.

The Gophers are in now, no matter what. Have you seen how horrible the actual "bubble" teams are?

I'd give them a 4 or maybe 5 under those circumstances, but that's just me.

I'm tired of hearing people say that the Gophers are in the Tournament. Whether they are or not, this is a team that has totally screwed themselves this year by relaxing at key moments, and the last thing I want anyone to do is be comfortable. Neither the players nor the fans should be satisfied with going 8-10 and ending up with an 8-9 seed. The idea right now needs to be to finish the season on a 14-game winning streak and with a national title. As extremely unlikely as that is, it needs to be the mind set. None of this 'we're in, so we'll see how the last two regular games go' business. It's an all-out sprint the rest of the way, and that's the approach they need to take. If they're serious about improving their seed and setting themselves up for a Tournament run, you lay the foundation for that in these next couple games.

By the way, yeah, they're in.

The goal was never to just get in the tournament, but to get in with a reasonable chance at success. Messing up these last two games throws all of this out the window. No complacency. We are better than both Purdue and Nebraska and we need to show it on the court in the last two games. By my read, if we win out, we get the 6 seed in the BTT (assuming Illini lose at least one of two road games Iowa and Ohio State), giving a real shot at the semi's in Chicago. No laying down, men. Get it cranked up now. Huskers match up well with Illini making it a tough one last night for them. No gimme's in this league, but no excuses if we lose in Lincoln.

Being satisfied, or not, with only making the tournament has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the Gophers will make the tournament now, no matter what.

Yet he succeeds in Big Ten conference play.....

Didn't even suggest they don't. Invert your offense, work the clock, flop and hack on every play that's what it is all about. I do believe their talent level is a little better tham most think. And that is the only good thing you will hear me say about them.
