For my money I would take Oregon against almost anyone. I know they had the opening season loss to LSU but if they were to play again I am not so sure LSU would come out on top in the rematch.

That Oregon team is just fun to watch and they have so much speed all over the field that at times it just gets ridiculous. Of course the bitter pill for Gopher fans is watching L. James run all over the field since he was so close to coming here a couple of years ago. Not sure he would be the same player for us but he would certainly be a great weapon to have out of the backfield. Josh Huff who plays for Oregon was also almost a Gopher.

This game was already played. Stupid comment to say Oregon is better than LSU when it wasn't even close when they played the game.

You meant Oklahoma St right? LSU already beat Oregon.

Oregon has certainly gotten better since week one, but I would not be willing to suggest that LSU has gotten any worse. LSU has beaten Alabama, a team that I can not say Oregon certainly beats. I think the OP comment is driven by the natural thirst for offensive entertainment. But as the saying goes, OFFENSE PUTS BUTS IN THE SEATS BUT DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS. LSU has the best defense in college football. JMHO.

I know what I said and I meant it. Clearly many people are not going to share my opinion but after watching a lot of college football it is how I feel. As for the first matchup with LSU, Oregon lost by 13 and made a ton of mistakes. LSU had their issues going into that one as well with the suspensions. The thing about college football is that there are no warmup games so while I appreciate your opinion DLW, I don't think it is insane to suggest a team that lost in week 1 could win the rematch 3 months later.

LSU and Alabama have the two best defenses I've seen in college football in the last 10 years and are clearly the best two teams. I'm hoping for an LSU/Oklahoma St. national title game...

Oregon is a great example of the power of orderly transition and stability in coaching. They had a vision for their program and they had the leadership to execute the plan.

Agree they are the best defenses. They have athletes to match Ore. I think Ore is a good team, but Stanford is not a great team.

I think Oregon-LSU might be closer in a rematch, but LSU still wins. Just like the national championship game last year, Oregon was able to get big yards on some plays, but once they got inside the 10, they faltered. They don't have the size to finish a drive in a place where they can no longer spread the field.

I agree with that. They really hadn't played anyone up until last night. USC isn't bad but it took them three overtimes to beat them.

If Oregon faces Alabama, take The Tide. Oregon is maybe the 4th best team in the county. There is no defense in the Pacific Coast Conference. As it stands today Oregon is lucky they aren't facing Boise State.

Phil Knight's money as well. It's just a matter of time before something gets uncovered over there...

Say what you want, but LSU already beat them. So it doesn't seem very logical to crown a one-loss team over an undefeated team who already has beat that team. Oregon can't beat a team with a defense. Unfortunately, Stanford had no defense. Oregon would lose again to LSU or Alabama. My argument for #1 would be Oklahoma St. They have the best offense in the country and enough defense to easily beat Oregon. I think they'd outscore LSU as well...
