Chances we see Berkley Edwards this game? The coaches have shown they're not afraid to "roll the dice". This would be an excellent time to bring him into the mix to enhance our running game. We've got the Power, how about adding a little Speed?

I'm going with 50/50 on that.

Nope. Even if we did. It would only be for a carry or two. Not worth it in the least bit.

I would be very surprised to see them burn his redshirt at this point. They have Cobb and Kirkwood between the tackles and they have used Jones around the end. Edwards seems better served to work in practice on his pass blocking and simulating the opponents running back than he would be on the field with only a handful of games left. I, personally, would like to have Edwards around for an additional four years after this season. So...I think it's a very low chance of Edwards playing at all this season, let alone this weekend.

From Nadine's interview:

NB: Word on the street is Berkley Edwards bring a new dimension to the team - what does he bring?

BA: He does, he's fast. He's super fast. I'm looking forward to working with him this spring and get him in there, and see what he can do. He's a different back than the rest of them, a get it over back - he can hit the home run at any point in time.
BA = Brian Anderson

The only way that Berkley would play is if there's a rash of injuries to the people in front of him. Even then, I think the coaches would put Gillum and Banham out there first if it was only for 1 game.

Claeys (or maybe Kill?, but pretty sure it was Claeys) already said that there's no scenario where his redshirt will be pulled.

It does not matter who said it publicly, but rest assured the COACHING STAFF has talked about it as a group and have agreed with each other.

Who will play Berkley Edwards in the movie? That's what I want to know.

I'm obviously in the minortity here, but I wanted to get a little discussion going on this possibility. Perhaps he's real raw at this point, but with the likely stable of RBs coming in next year, it might get crowded in that area. Just thinking he'd be a good addition - and this is approximately the time he put Nelson in last year. I know the situation is entirely different, but an RB can be plugged in much easier than QB.

I'm trying to deflect a little 10-2 hype that has trickled into this board. At this point, I just want to be 7-2 at this time next week.

That's what I was thinking about too. Guessing he wanted to stop the speculation about Berkley's status.

We currently don't have a stable of new RBs coming in next year. We have all of our primary RB players back - Kirkwood, Cobb, and Williams - and Edwards will see the field then too. For spacing reasons, It makes more sense to redshirt Edwards this season.

It's refreshing to see guys red shirting. I'm hoping that the vast majority of next year's guys do the same. We will win more with fourth and fifth year guys than first and second year ones.

Why, seriously, why Rescooter? We have absolutely zero affect on whether they end-up 11-2 or 6-7. Haven't participated in the speculation myself but after quite a few years of drudgery, with a bright spot here and there it shouldn't be surprising. Even after those few good wins, the board was FULL of people whining and carping about everything possible.

Can completely understand why people then, would want to speculate on some fun stuff that may get us to a New Year's Day Bowl. Something that hasn't happened since JFK was in the White House.

I don't see any chance he plays

1. Cobb
2. Kirkwood
3. Williams (Injured)
4. Gillum
5. Banham
6. Edwards

Edwards in the only one that has yet to take a snap this season, let alone in his career. He will not play this year. 0%

Rescooter - LOL - If you believe those are the odds you better stay away from Las Vegas. They are dying to take your money. My theory is that you are just bored and wanted to see what kind of response you would get from your post. Now you know the answer, yes I was dumb enough to respond to your bait. Carry on!

No, not bored, nor looking for attention. I just think it's an interesting scenario. If he plays this weekend, I will come back on the board and gloat. If not, I'm a big boy and will take my lumps.

And Iceland....I agree, it is fun to dream again.

I agree with those who say he won't play. However, I would be thrilled if he did! I want as many players red shirting as possible, but for me that does not include RB's. That is a position where my attitude is "if he can help now, play him!"

I thought Banham was banged up with a shoulder injury. I thought Claey said that in the last presser when asked about Edwards.

Maybe if the other guys were all seniors, but they will all be back and we need to separate them out a bit.

Yes, I believe Banham is injured. I think the only scenario would be if Cobb and Kirkwood both became injured before R. Williams returns.

I agree with GopherHole's very own Lazarus on this point.

Happens to the best of us, Killjoy. Just ask station19. He was dumb, and he still is. Afterall, he got sucked into parski's schtick. (I too miss the Polish flash, parski.)

Can't wait for next year to have Cobb, Kirkwood, and Williams running downhill with a guy like Edwards taking jet sweeps to the outside with a little Donovahn Jones mixed in.

You forgot Jeff Jones. (Though I hope he also redshirts if he does end up coming here.)

Coaches have been open about BE not playing this year. 0%

As far as balancing out recruiting classes, it made every reason in the world to play Berkley this year, which is why it was a given until his injury.

Now that he's going to redshirt, next year we will have no sophomore RBs and 3-4 Freshman (Edwards, Jones, Herrod/Johnson/Walters/Howell).

Long as Kirkwood and Cobb stay healthy they shouldn't burn the redshirt, Still a lot of football to be played.
