Ben Johnson and the boys are kicking ass- who would have thunk it??

Back in November when the Gophers lost 54-51 to North Texas, I would dare to say most of us in the Hole were wondering if 1 conference win was possible. The way this team is playing 11-9 and a ticket to the big dance are on the table. This team is tough with a never give up mentality, no one is going to want to face them in the Big Ten tourney. Needless to say Ben has saved his job for at least another year.
 




Kicking ass?
Well it's more like that movie fight where both guys beat each other up and then the bad guy slips and falls off the building, but sure...kicking ass...

They are playing hard. What I noticed last night for the last 2/3 of the game was that we were doing things with pace on offense. That is one huge difference from earlier in the year.

The second half of the conference schedule looks very similar to the non-conference schedule.
And we ain’t blowing people out. Outside of Michigan and UCLA, all the wins are pretty meh.
Plus, we lost to Washington at home!

6 of 9 and wins over #1 in conference and a team coming off winning 8 of last 9 games. Not bad. We can celebrate the victories and enjoy the season.

Sure we can. But this team is hardly kicking ass. They are in a bar fight every game and barely crawling out the door when they win. Yes, they won, but it's not kick ass winning that's going on. In fact when we lose we often get our asses handed to us. Look at the blowout losses and then count the blowout wins. I am happy the boys won, but let's not get carried away.

I like the wins despite not seeing any of them in real time. I’m going out on a limb, though, I’m suggesting that continued double digit deficits won’t continue ending up in wins. Need to get out of the gate more quickly.

I’m doubling down on my assertion that Ben hasn’t saved the job just yet.

We come out of games looking more like Kick-Ass than Hit Girl, that’s for sure!

Isn't UCLA 10-6 in conference, and 19-8 overall? It's ok to be a jerk on this board (in fact, I think it's required), but let's try to be somewhat accurate.

I would say worse was Rand writing in the trib that there is "Euphoria" around the basketball team 🤦‍♂️
