per Des Moines Register article:
Would he be interested in pursuing the Minnesota job?
“I’m not going to answer that right now. I haven’t been contacted. I have not talked to anybody, and I’m going to leave it at that,” Jacobson said.
His athletic director, Troy Dannen, told me moments earlier that he hasn’t heard from Minnesota, but that he probably wouldn’t at this stage.
“They won’t call me first. The courtesy call comes after the deal has been negotiated with an agent,” he said. “So if Jake’s on the radar screen, Jake’s been on a lot of radar screens. So it wouldn’t surprise me.”
Dannen said he and Jacobson have discussed the Minnesota opportunity, as they routinely do.
“I’ve tried to do some things with his contract, not necessarily financial, but some things to remind him of how important he is to the institution,” Dannen said. “I can’t do anything to keep him from taking a Big Ten job if it was a job that he wanted. But we need to make sure we continue to show our support for the program and for him as the leader of the program.”
