Since we seem to be slipping down our list, what are your thoughts on Ben Howland? It feels a little to much like Tubby Part II, but up until a couple years ago, I would have ranked him in the top 5 coaches in all of basketball. Frankly, I'd rather have him than Anthony Grant, Hoiberg, etc.

Howland is better than much of our "list."
Least? On a scale of Shaka to Tim Brewster least?
Yes. I'd rather rehire Brewster for football than Howland for basketball. Howland is a much worse version of Tubby. I don't care how good if a coach you are, when your team literally hates you and hates playing for you it's an issue. He has more drama and transfers than Tubby has. Stay far far away.

I'd take Howland over Grant. He's not Brewster bad. He's at least accomplished something at some point in his career
So he just stumbled and bumbled his way to 3 straight Final Fours with players who hated him?
Read the SI article about Howland. Even if only half of it is true, I don't want to risk letting him near our program.

Yeah, Howland is a good coach but I'm not sure I'd want him for the Gophers. I'd prefer any of the unrealistics (Williams, Stevens, Hoiberg). I'd probably prefer Grant because of Grant's ability to recruit to smaller programs pretty well. But, I'm not sure how good of a fit he would be.
