Behind the scenes of Barry Sanders' untouchable 1988 season

I have a good friend who is a big OU fan. And he said in Barry's freshmen season, Oklahoma St also had Thurman Thomas (who later starred for Buffalo in the NFL). Barry Switzer (head coach at OU at the time) told his team not to hurt Thomas because he knew Sanders was lurking. That's some respect right there...

The article mentions something similar as well.

The number Sanders put up in 1988 were just ridiculous. He probably easily breaks 3,000 yards if he plays 12 regular season games.

Very interesting read. Enjoyed it! He was one of those guys I feared when the Vikings would play the Lions. Sanders was out of this world as to talent and determination.

I met Barry Sanders once years ago after he retired. You talk about a quiet, humble man. He epitomizes it. He is one of a kind.

Greatest RB of all time in my book.

He's second for me behind Payton only due to running style for shorter yardage, but I can't strongly disagree with your opinion.
