Here is a recent interview that Beau Allen did with HuskerIllustrated.com discussing where he stands in the recruiting process right now.
It's been a pretty busy month for Minnetonka (Minn.) defensive tackle Beau Allen. Not only is the 6-foot-2, 300-pounder competing in two spring sports, he's also trying to do everaything he can to become more familiar with his college options. Over the next few weeks, he'll be taking trips to a number of campuses.
"I'm up to six offers now," Allen said. "Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Stanford and Nebraska had offered and I got an offer from Vanderbilt recently too."
"I plan to go to as many spring games as I can this month. I'll definitely go to Minnesota's on April 25 because it's so close. Wisconsin and Nebraska both have their spring games on April 18. I want to go to one of those. I might go to Iowa too. I have to get it all figured out."
The big man from Minnesota said he's still "wide open" with regards to the whole recruiting process. In fact, he said he hopes to take a trip out to the West Coast early next month.
"I'm going to try to go to a junior day at Oregon on May 1 or May 2," Allen said. "They've been recruiting me too. While I'm out there I want to see Stanford as well. All of that is tentative though."
"I don't really think I have a top five. I guess the schools with an edge right now would be Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Nebraska because I've been able to visit all of them at their junior days. I don't really have a definite top three or five yet though. That's something I'm still working on."
Allen said his memories of his trip to Nebraska in February put the Huskers in good position to be in his top group at the end.
"The thing about Nebraska was the amazing fan base," Allen said. "That's what I took away most. They've already sold out their spring game. I think they've sold out every game since 1962 or something. That's unbelievable."
"I'd like to get down there again sometime soon."
Allen earned first-team all-conference and honorable mention all-state honors as a junior after tallying 47 tackles, three sacks and two fumble recoveries. This spring he's lending his talents to two different sports for Minnetonka.
"I'm doing lacrosse this spring for the first time," Allen said. "I'm pretty excited about it. It's a fun, fast and physical sport. Plus, our school is rated number one in the state and one of the top 25 teams in the nation. It should be a good year."
"I'm also practicing once or twice a week with the track team and throwing the shot put at meets. It's been pretty busy."
Allen said he has no intention of making a quick college decision. He said he doesn't anticipate making his choice until sometime next winter.
"I definitely think I'll take my time," Allen said. "I won't decide until sometime after my senior year. I want to take all of my official visits."
"I don't want to end up committing and then recommitting and have that whole fiasco. I want to take my time with it all and make the right decision."
Additional quotes from Allen

Wisconsin - "They just hired a new strength coach. I got to talk to him on junior day and I really liked him. The strength program is very important to me - whatever school I choose."
Iowa - "They also have an awesome strength coach."
