I see that Beau Allen will be in Lincoln this weekend at a Junior Day event

Minnetonka, Minn., defensive tackle Beau Allen has picked up early scholarship offers from Iowa, Minnesota, and Stanford. The 6-foot-3, 296-pounder is looking forward to checking out the Huskers to see what they have to offer.

"As for Nebraska, to be honest, I'm kind of going down there to check everything out," Allen said. "I figure I should check out as many schools as I can. They're a storied program and coach (Bo) Pelini is doing a good job. I haven't seen their facilities, but like I said a junior day is a good way to check out a program. It's going to be my first glimpse of them and I'm excited for that."

No to Iowa, no to Nebraska and no to Wisconsin. I can handle any other school, just not those 3. I want nothing more than Sam Maresh to be the new posterboy for MN high school athletes. Make a statement, stay home and turn this thing around. You'll be a hero for the rest of your lives boys, think about it.

Good for Beau, check out as many as you can so you're sure about your decision. I have faith!

the junior days dont bother me

the staiums are empty

its when a kid goes to nebraska or michigan and the stadiums are full and they see the atmosphere.......thats when it sucks

junior day....big whoop

...unless it's Texas, right?

I really hope Allen becomes another Minnesota kid that helps turn the program around and bring it back to national prominence. Brewster did a fine job locking down the borders with the 09 class.

What is really annoying is when people make things personal on a forum like this. I am new to this forum so I do not understand the history involved, but it seems that people are upset at GopherGod because he may be a bit negative. So what? If you do not like his posts, stop reading them. There is no need to personally attack someone.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. This post was just informing everyone about Beau Allen's future plans.

As for Beau Allen taking a trip to NE, I hope his car stops working just before he is planning on leaving for NE? :) He is going to be a highly recruited player so it is inevitable that he will be making trips to other colleges, but hopefully he will see the light and commit early to the Gophers!

Trust me, as someone who went there over august for a weekend long college visit and went on a tour of the stadium during it, it is very much impressive to be there, even when its empty. We had relatively limited acess but still got to take the walk, go on the field, go to the press box. It is all very impressive. Heck, its one of the reasons I'm still considering the school for next year. It definitely is an impressive campus all around too. It making it pretty tough to narrow down my list.

Well ... if you care about academics, MN is ranked much higher than NE. From that stand point, it is an easy decision.

Thats true, and thats the largest part as to why I haven't decided to go to NE. Especially since I want to study either biomedical or chemical engineering. The latter of which the U is ranked number one in the country and Nebraska, while rapidly improving, is still a ways from being established as a top engineering school. I wish it was as simple as just those two though...I am still split between 4-6 schools.

Those are impressive fields of study! I am sure that you will make the best choice for you, whatever school that may be. Good luck with the decision.

Oh but there is good reason, the guy is a troll who comes on the board to continuously beat down the Gopher Football program. If the guy mixed in a positive comment here and there we might let it slide. But the guy is NOT a Gopher fan, he comes on the board to spread ill-will about the program and since recruits come on these boards and read things, he loves to do it. So before you stand up for the jacka$$ you might want to ask why everyone on here hates him.

Add Notre Dame, Oregon, and Texas Tech to that list and I agree.

When he gets to Lincoln

He will find its windier, the old saying its because Iowa sucks. He will find a weightroom beyond compare, but he won't find Boyd Epply the Strength and Condition Coach who developed Husker Power. I think both Murtha and Swift are either going to graduate or have. And they were the last Minnesota recruits who chose to go there. There must be a reason it stopped. Some say when Dr. Tom left, some say it ended with Pedenson and Callihan. But what happened in those years right here? New weight room and lounge, Coach Hill. A brand new stadium, largest home locker rooms in the nation. A sold out stadium, outdoors. Why would any Minnesota kid have a reason to go elsewhere? Oh, sure a National Champion might be offering, but we have players on the roster who were offered by The National Champions but choose Minnesota. Maybe ask them?

Thank you very much.

If there's anything any of us can do to help further recruit you to the U, let us know!!!!;)

In the meantime, as SFGopher said, good luck with the process!!!

Not sure, but from earlier posts, he or she is apparently looking at a number of schools, of which Minnesota and Nebraska were two. This person also apparently wants to major in chemical engineering, a pretty challenging major and likes the U's program, which is also ranked No. 1 in the country in that particular field...

Other than that, I got nothing.....

Swift was not highly recruited by Minnesota.

Sorry. Allow me to give a little background on myself. I have been coming here relatively frequently for a while now, have lived in the cities my whole life. Have been a gopher fan my whole life as well, my family has had season tickets for football since I was five. Just decided to jump in on the Nebraska talk and hopefully will now be at least somewhat active on the site.

Nice to meet you all.

FYI: I am a guy by the way...

I think you are onto something again. I was thinking the same thing because the guy always seems to have some cute story to go along with these "other personalities". And this is the second time he used the "first time poster, long time fan" bull. I'm actually kinda scared for the guy, I think he should see a doc.

Nice to meet you as well!!!:)

I know this has been said before, but as a college graduate and someone who is currently pursuing their master's degree, I would like to wish you the best of luck in your college search. It can be both a fun and tiring process, but in the end, it can also be very rewarding.

Oh, and welcome to the board!!!!:)

Anyway. Good for Beau. Hope he enjoyed the trip, but also hope that the Gophers can get this guy. Given the D-line situation at the U of M, PT is in the offing as a frosh for Allen if he chooses us.
