Baylor star DE Shawn Oakman: "We don't watch any Big Ten. Why? It's not interesting."

per Mlive.com:

Shawn Oakman, the Bears' intimidating 6-foot-9, 280-pound defensive end, stirred things up when asked by a Lansing TV reporter if he watched Big Ten football.

"We don't watch any Big Ten football,'' Oakman said in this WLNS-TV video. "Why? It's not interesting.''

Oakman said Monday the Baylor defensive line was coming after Spartans' quarterback Connor Cook before expressing disinterest in the Big Ten on Tuesday.

"He'll see what Big Ten football is all about come Thursday,'' Cook said, asked about Oakman's comments. "That's all I've got to say.''

Go Gophers!!

Kinda odd for a defensive player to say that considering the Big 12 doesn't play any defense while the Big Ten generally does.

I could see these kind of comments coming from an offensive player.

Well I happen to find 61-58 games just as boring.

Agreed.

Sour grapes - Oakman is a former Penn St. player who more or less got kicked out after attempting to steal food from a student cafeteria and then transferred to Baylor.

If he's not watching any Big Ten, then he is missing out on the playoff action. I'm sure the games the Big 12 co-champs got into are nice too though. Really hope MSU beats these guys, we got shut out by the Pac 12 and I believe this is our only game against the Big 12.

Haha! Zing! Nice one...I didn't think it was possible but the incessant complaining from the top-down at Baylor has resulted in me hating that program more than just about any other. I can even envision a scenario where I would cheer for the badgers to beat them. They should worry more about beating WVU...

Go Gophers!!

6'9" 280lbs DE? Holy crap that is a big guy for a DE. Hopefully MSU can show him what Big Ten football is all about

Probably why he was stealing food in the first place! Needed that Shabazz Napier rule put in place. ;)

So, big talk Shawna Oakman finished the game with exactly ONE solo tackle. Good job dominating the boring old B1G, Shawna.

Maybe he didn't see the MSU players. He said he didn't watch the B1G, and it looked like he wasn't watching the Spartans as they rattled off the comeback.

I didn't know there were defensive stars at Baylor. Good to know.

Connor Cook was correct. Hey goofball with the green hair, meet Sparty OT Jack Conklin, the same guy who neutralized Joey Bosa. Oakman was completely invisible except for 1 early sack.

Congrats on keeping it close with the second best Big Ten team. It was a favor that the committee didn't place them on the railroad tracks for a GREAT team to run over.

Auburn RB Cameron Artis-Payne earlier this week said "I'm just going to say I would have loved to have played against Northwestern, Illinois and Purdue." Well after Wisconsin rattled off 400 yards rushing yesterday, I'd say many Big Ten teams would have loved to face Auburn.

It's amazing that players never learn to keep their mouth shut. I also hope our team never comes up with some dumb team gesture. It always comes back to haunt. The mocking land shark hand gesture that TCU threw back at Ole Miss was brutal (in a good way :D )
