Baylor loses 49-17 and remains in the TOP TEN?

In the USA Today poll, Baylor is only one behind Oklahoma St. Yeah, that makes sense.

Oh, and South Carolina being ahead of Michigan St. is ridiculous.

The rankings are just laughable. It is nothing more than a sorted list of records with regional bias mixed-in. These rankings make absolutely no sense.

But it is very clear that the Voters in the south are trying to make sure we do not have a FSU/OSU NCG.

And Oregon #12? That's another joke. Ducks basically laid down yesterday but they likely will remain in the BCS top 12 and be eligible for a BCS bid.

If MSU and Wisconsin both win next week, and then let's say (hypothetically) MSU loses a tight game to OSU, it'd be an absolute joke if Oregon gets a BCS bid over Sparty or the Badgers.

And neither Michigan State nor Wisconsin is in the top ten?

Stanford loss to Utah.
Oklahoma St. loss to West Virginia.
Baylor, Oregon.. These teams are all getting regional biased help.

WI & MSU have elite defenses and are getting no respect.

Win steaks show factor in voting.

I can see Michigan State beating Ohio State in the Big 10 Championhsip and maybe cracking the top 10. And if they play Arizona State or Stanford in the Rose Bowl and Win, finishing the season 13-1 and not making the Top 5.

I couldn't figure out how Stanford was ranked 4/5 and possibly passing OSU after losing to a bad Utah team. Made absolute no sense, thankfully they lost to out an end to that.

An Oregon player commented that they weren't excited to play in the Rose Bowl, well I guess they don't have to worry about that.

Clemson got railroaded at home by Florida State and only sank to 7. Anything is possible.

well considering they have a cinci team that got ripped by Illinois and lost to south florida (yeah that team that got destroyed by fcs mcneese state and is 2-8) ranked at all, we can probably just throw this one out.

College football polls are a bit like Twitter trends. Voters can't possibly watch highlights, much less the full replay, of every single game being played on Saturday. Especially by Sunday morning, and especially when many of the voters for the assorted polls are coaches, journalists, and fans spend most of the day on their own team. It's all about who can generate the most buzz, and who has a quality reputation.

Baylor learned how to create some buzz by beating CFB's biggest cupcakes by astronomical scores. They played Wofford, a school of 1,500 students. That's smaller than most 5A high schools in Texas. I don't know why anyone would praise them for running up the score on a school that probably struggles to afford new jock straps each year. When Baylor finally plays anyone of semi-mediocre talent, they stall for a bit (i.e. OU and Tech), and when they play an actual football team, they get decimated (OSU). I expect a down texas university to give them struggle as well, and can't wait for them to go to a bowl game and face real talent from any other conference. tOSU would mop the floor with them, as would FSU or Auburn (or really the top 4-5 teams in each of the major conferences).

Oregon won't. As popular as they are because they're talked about so much they actually have a pretty small fanbase that does not travel well. Considering the at-large spots they could be selected would be in Miami or New Orleans (all the way across the country) the likelihood of them being selected is slim to none. The B1G will get two teams in, likely one in the Rose and one in the Orange and those will be some combination of OSU, MSU and WI. It's a virtual certainty now as long as all three teams win next week.

Agree.

The best thing that happened for the Big Ten (other than OSU, MSU, and Bucky continuing to win) was Stanford's second loss to USC followed by Oregon's face plant. The Pac 12 was looking like a lock for 2 BCS spots, but now they should only get their champion because the Stanford/ASU loser will have 3 losses and have no chance at a BCS at-large bid. Unless something funny happens like FSU getting beat in the ACC title game (not gonna' happen, Jameis or no Jameis), the last at-large bid likely will come down to the Sparty/OSU loser vs. Wisconsin, assuming (as you said) they all win next week. Losses by Baylor, Clemson, Fresno State, Northern Illinois, and Oregon in the next couple weeks certainly would be welcomed by Sparty and Bucky, especially choke jobs by both potential BCS busters (Fresno & NIU). That would open up another spot.

If Michigan State beats the Gophers and loses a close one to OSU (I actually think Sparty will beat 'em), Sparty certainly should get an at-large bid over Wisconsin.
