Baylor coaches shirts: “We pay players”

It's for their NIL collective

Why is this the NCAAs fault?
Not necessarily the NCAA's fault but the NCAA just looks like a worthless organization with all the stupidity taking place.

As for the shirts.....just another example of how ridiculous this current college sports landscape is. Such a shame to see what the game has become.

It’s classless by the coaching staff. The ncaa has nothing to do with it or NIL or anything. Everyone wants to blame them for everything when they have no control over anything. Although North Carolina should have been hit hard and basically got nothing. It is what it is.

How is it classless by the coaching staff? They're supporting the collective that gets them the best players possible. Would it be classless if our coaches wear "Row the Boat" shirts and DTA sold them to support our players? Doesn't seem much different to me, besides the words that would be printed on the shirt

And the new settlement means schools pay players.

We are now in the era of pay players.

Truth: The money is big and courts do not want.schools getting rich with mostly free labor.

The players were cheated out of NIL by illegal blocking it, is the legal view.

Share the money.

It also gets it out in the open.

This would not be happening if the money was not big.

Courts said share the money.

It’s classless by the collective and the coaches to have a shirt as such. Might as well print ones at Georgia that say we dont care if you get caught drinking and driving. I get above is clearly hyperbole, but that is what the shirts are “messaging”

I believe we don't. What's the point?

Are paying players and drinking and driving on the same level?

The Gophers collective is paying players.

The point is that there is nothing wrong with paying players or rowing the boat at this point in time. Neither are classless.

The Gophers collective is paying players.

I think any coach would like to get his players to think team first, togetherness, winning, competing etc. The shirts are a distraction to the players. It takes away away focus on tasks, plays, fundamentals etc and puts thoughts to hmmm "Am I the lowest paid guy at my position?" etc
Classless or not ... it is dumb.

You think the shirts do all that? Like, you really think the players won't be playing as well because of the shirt? I really have to disagree on that one.

You do realize that the players on Baylor's roster chose to be there, right? Seems odd that there would be such regret in the decision because of a shirt that states a fact that is now common knowledge for what I would assume is common practice for every power program at this point in time.

Finally, don't you think IF there are guys that are insecure about how much they're making, they were already having those thoughts, regardless of if the coaches are wearing that shirt or not (which is helping that player get paid when he might not be getting paid anything at all)?

Agree, but that ship has sailed. The lack of transparency and levels of utter BS surrounding NIL dollar numbers are, I’d have to think, going to make everyone wonder, look around. Most of them don’t have mortgages, family staking them down. Contrasted with say, military or public service where you know what everyone is making and true teamwork, performance, dedication to craft can become the priority.

Wow some of you go to great lengths creating hypothetical scenarios to get enraged over this stuff.

Enraged is incorrect. I could care less. As someone who has actually coached I do know 100% it is stupid.
If you knew how easily athletes are distracted you wouldn’t be commenting. Why do coaches print : Play Hard on practice jerseys and things of that nature. It is a reminder to focus at the task at hand.
We pay players is a distraction. It is dumb!

Represents what is wrong with college football.
But it’s ok to pay coaches? It’s ok to pay AD’s? It’s ok to pay regents and presidents?

The honest truth is that athletes make the school money, not the coach and not the AD… Do not tell me that if you were in line for a 2 million a year NIL deal out of HS that you would not take it because “that’s what’s wrong with college football”

"We give players hookers and blow" shirts are not long in coming. Ridiculous direction the sport has taken.

Pick a timeframe... I think I'll take the over
