Banham (get some players to go with her)

Getting a good look at Rachel Banham for the first time today because there are no men's games on the tube until later. She's the real deal. Find it hard to believe there's a better freshman women's player in the B1G. Gophers would be unwatchable & dreadful without her. Now Pam needs to go get some talent to surround her.

She's one of those players, unless she gets into foul trouble, she should never sit on the bench. She's so much better than everyone else.

Agreed, SS. I'm catching them for the first time too. She's the Talor Battle of the Gophers. Pretty impressive.

She is going to end up getting over 30 points it looks like. Maybe closer to 40 if the trend continues.

Michigan's coach finally figured out that they needed to make someone other than Banham beat them. Once that happened, game over. Gophers have no way to counter once Banham starts getting held in check.

She was getting shots on single coverage. Mich. Went to a zone at about the 15:00 mark. Pam still had Banham play at the top of the key, so all Michigan did was pinch her off when she got the ball and doubled on her when she tried to drive. All Pam had to do was run Banham down low after the pass and cut to the corner after sealing off her defender. Buford didn't help. 3-15 and she didn't sart the dribble/drive until late in the game. The kid is a total mystery, she'll play a couple of good games and then disappear off the face of the earth.

Even one other slightly above average player would make this team tough. Hopefully Jackie Johnson is the real deal next year as well, things could get fun then.

Rachel Banham is an amazing shooter. She needs to learn to move her feet and get open or force the defenders to foul her away from the ball so that they can't neutralize her with that tight coverage Michigan used in the last 14 minutes.

Banham did have 1 assist and 4 turnovers. She is the "1." If everybody else is disengaged, the "1" (and the coach) have some responsibility for that. Next year I give the ball to Mullaney and make Banham the "2." See if you can't get more of a team concept going.
