Friday nights MAC Championship game outcome will point the Gophers east or southwest.
If Ball State wins the Motor City Bowl will have Ball State - Boise State the undefeated.
Money is added to the Game and this will send Ohio State to Phoenix.
The Gophers preceed Ohio State to the INSIGHT BOWL in Tempe.

If Ball State loses, the BCS boys will be digging all day Saturday to firgure out what to do. WHY?
Boise State leads Ohio State by almost .07 BCS average points. Texas got beat out by Oklahoma
with .01 BCS average points.

What is good for the SOONER should be good for the BRONCO.

Where are you coming up with this stuff? OU beat out Texas for the Big 12 game because it is in the conference's tie breaker. Ohio State will beat out Boise State because the bowl (probably Fiesta) is not bound by taking the highest ranked BCS team. Instead the bowl will choose what team will bring in the most money for the bowl...Ohio State has a much bigger alumni and fan base. That is all you need to know.

Your other comments about Boise State going to the Motor City Bowl are completely wrong too. Boise State is going to stay in Boise to host a bowl.

The outcome of Friday's MAC championship will have absolutely, positively NO impact on where the Gophers travel to play in a bowl game.

Wrong on several fronts

If Ball State wins, the Humanitarian Bowl - not the Motor City Bowl - is lobbying hard to get the matchup of the unbeaten BSU's in their game. Oh sure, the Motor City Bowl wants that game too, but they have no bargaining power because Boise simply has no reason to make the trip to Detroit (see below). Ball State has everything to prove, and the H-Bowl is doing everything to get it done, including offering Ball State the chance to be the designated home team, AND a regular season return trip by Boise.

Secondly, if Boise doesn't stay at home for the H-Bowl (which likely hinges on whether Ball State agrees to play), they are likely going to San Diego to face TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl. Boise will end up in a good game regardless, which is why they have no need to go to Detroit.

The BCS, however, is not going to happen. Therefore, the MAC Championship has no bearing whatsoever on where the Gophers go bowling.

That's irrelevant. There is a rule in place that only one "BCS-buster" gets in. There is a provision that allows the committee to ignore it's own rule. But frankly, Boise State's point-lead over Ohio State is so woefully inadequate that I doubt they would spend 5-minutes to considering ignoring that important rule .

It would seem particularly unlikely that the BCS would ignore it's own rule in a year when non-BCS teams were tripping over each other in an attempt to water-down their schedules and make it through the season unscathed so they could cash in as a "BCS-buster."

The ONE "BCS-buster" rule was supposed to have the opposite effect. It was supposed to motivate teams to step-up their competiton in order to prove themselves. Boise State decided to go for the easy money.

No matter what happens, someone will get screwed and somebody will complain what a stupid system we have for the BCS champion. I guess if enough teams get screwed over, they will finally come up with a better playoff system. The present one is only slightly better than the pre-BCS format - at least we have the #1 vs. #2 rated teams playing each other. One year, BYU was national champion and all they had to do was beat a 6-5 Michigan team and they barely got by!!

Division 1 college football is the only sport not to have a true champion that is decided by a playoff system and the only sport where you can go undefeated and still not be recognized as a national champion.

Changes will eventually be made.......but until they do someone will get the shaft almost every year!!

Ask Tommy T about it

"the only sport where you can go undefeated and still not be recognized as a national champion. "

If his 12-0 Auburn team makes it into the BCS championship game and manages to win, still going 13-0 by now recognized as National Champions, does he still have a job today?

Also, awesome Jason King article on Yahoo! today - so much so that it got onto the first page of popurls.com - about why Ball State should have taken the invitation to the H-Bowl out in Boise.
