Badgers mark includes a 3 point ot win vs Purdue.

It seems as though the Gophers have been a better football team over the past 9 B1G games. I think there is a head to head win in there for the Gophers as well over this span.

I wonder if the seeds for the Skunk's loss to Illinois were sowed in their less-than-impressive victory over a reeling Northwestern team. That is the first time they looked mortal this season and now there is a full out track record of mediocre play. Not to say the Gophers aren't beatable and I still think they will need to play their best to win in the last game. But, Wisconsin has had damaging stretches where they have not looked like a top 10 team. The Gophers are better than they were last year when they handily beat Wisconsin. But Wisconsin is quite a bit better than they were last year so things will have to go up a notch to do it again, no doubt.

I think Wisconsin is destined for 8-4 this season. They will lose to OSU, and one of Iowa/Purdue/Nebraska, and I believe we’ll take care of business again at home.

Lost 4 out of their last 5 on the road in the BIG, with the only win coming in the Purdue game. Going to be 5 out of 6 when they go to Columbus. So sad.

I just read yesterday that a week ago CFN came out with their mid-season awards and they had Paul Chryst as the #1 coach in the land. How dominant Wisconsin was and how they've crushed everyone on both sides of the ball. How different a week can be...

This is why Fleck preaches the one week championship stuff - one bad week can completely change the year for a program.

Wisconsin looks mortal now, where as last week they were considered a possible National Title contender.

They played their first game this season on the road and then had 5 straight home games. Game 7 they lost to a middling team. Game 8 will be lost to a really good team. They might be good but they are far from great. I do like 23 though.

Wow, I'm surprised they looked at Chryst so positively. I always thought he was a step below Bielema and even Anderson (prior to his Oregon State tenure).

In all honesty, looking back over the past 25 years, I respect what Wisconsin has done. I have often been disappointed with what Minnesota has done over the same 25 years.
I feel no need to mock Wisconsin because they lost one game to Illinois. Ohio lost to Purdue last year. They are still Ohio.
My concern is that Minnesota win this Saturday. My hope is that MN keeps winning as it goes on. My hope is that the next 25 years are filled with championship teams at UMN. I will not belittle what Wisconsin has done. I respect that.
Now...rtb, Ski-U-Mah, Go Gophers!

I will enjoy the loss to illinois and MN

but we still have a lot prove and i'm not ready to bury Wi

Badgers are weird.

They looked like fright trains and to have recovered from the injury bug ... then they show up and just are lost in Illinois...

I think they're still ranked appropriately and are very dangerous.

Wisconsin also beat 1-5 Northwestern at home by a narrow margin after being outgained and relying on 2 defensive TDs to survive.

Take away the Mich and MSU wins and shutting out bad G5 teams and Wisconsin has been shaky for a year and a half.

I hate wisconsin, but taking away the 2 best performances does not give an accurate assessment of a team.

Take away the Gophers wins against Rutgers, Illinois and Nebraska and they have been shaky all season.

Assuming your numbers are correct: WOW.

By the way, pointing these win totals out is in no way "belittling" anybody. These are cold, hard facts, folks.

A two game difference for basically an arbitrary number of games backwards. Come on.
I don't like how cocky some fans are getting before we have beat any ranked opponent.

Why as Minnesota fans do we think we have the right to talk smack? We haven't won anything yet. Let's win the West ONCE and play for the BiG title before we start belittling what Wisconsin has done. Their track record has been impressive over quite a long stretch here. And what's with the Michigan downplay? They went and gave Penn State all they could handle on the road. Wisconsin is still a good team as much as it pains me to say that. Let's see how the Gophers do against Maryland first the next we can start looking at the next game.

Their secondary can’t match up and will be exploited. Wisconsin is going down. Again.

You're right of course, but this is an internet homer board where it's okay to bend the universe a little.

Gophers have played great. Wisconsin is very good too. They have played seven games and have only been behind for one second all year.

Things I never knew:

I never realized that posting stats and comparing conference win-loss records is exactly the same thing as "belittling a rival" and "talking smack".

But life is for learning, I guess...

Gophers were not playing great early on but are getting better. Confidence is a huge part of the college game and the Gophers definitely seem to have it now.
