Only beat one team in the top 6. A good chance they will not be playing in any postseason tourney again. Give Tubby the extension he deserves to retire here.

Most pointless thread ever your a joke.

The most mentally stimulating material on this thread is the gif crocshots posted.

I'm all for criticizing the team after a loss, but we won today. Let's enjoy that for a couple hours, then hope they can make a run in Indianapolis.

A run in the tournament might get us an NIT invite. If Michigan State wins against Ohio State we have Michigian in the 2nd round. Completely winnable game. Anything can happen.

One win might get them in the NIT which would be very important for this team. Say two/three wins in the NIT, this could be a big lift leading to next year and positive for recruiting.

Can tell by your moniker that you're definitely an optimist :rolleyes:

Positive for recruiting?

Wow.

Positive for recruiting?

Wow.

I have to agree with Art on that one. It would be good for the returning players to get extra games and practices, but I'm not sure how you would sell NIT success to potential recruits, particularly the 2014 targets

Wow.

Indicator that there has been improvement and very likely an NCAA team next year, after that who knows. It would be the first sign in two years that things might get better down the line.

I would think 2 wins gets them a NIT bid. I wonder if Welch will be ready next Thursday?

Wrong Art

The thought last year was OMG we would have been 12-6 minimum with Nolen, WTF are we going to do next year without Nolen, Hoffarber, Joseph not to mention Mbakwe and Walker. Last year was the year it was going to happen. I don't recall any rosy expectations heading into this year.

I think this team wins at least one game in the BTT...19 wins will make the NIT hands down.

Where is the "very likely" NCAA team coming from? I hope you are right, but I don't see it. Basically the same roster as this year, adding Mo Walker and subtracting Sampson. Anything that the freshman give us is gravy. If we have the revolvling door that we have had with transfers in recent years, then even more difficult to see (unless the transfers are Mav and/or Ingram)

I was thinking the same thing. Very important for a young team to pick up extra practice time and tournament experience.

We will see the true state of the Gopher B-ball team in the BTT. One and done. If not, where have these kids been all BT season!

Looks like you've covered all your bases. ... you'll be ready & willing to complain either way.

I think it will be a good indicator of what direction the team is heading, they lost alot of close games, at some point you have to aquire the confidence that you can win, hopefully it will start in the Big Ten tournament, they are coming off of a good game, maybe the best of the season.

Yeah, it's not like we haven't been competitive in many of our losses this year. We had eight close (reasonable chance for either team winning at the end) B1G games this year, and went 2-6 in them. Before anyone jumps on me about moral victories not meaning anything, I get that. Just pointing out that in many games, we've been right there, just can't get it done when it means most.

Sounds like you are really looking forward to the big game on Thursday! Go Gophers!

Haven't we won some close games too? It evens out. The MI/PSU games ended up being close but it really never was in doubt. We had 18 games to beat teams. We beat one good one. I think that is a big enough sample size to say we just weren't that good.

I know I've been critical at times this season, but if we make a run to the title game, then I promise I won't have a negative thing to say.

Go Gophs, I have too many Northwestern buddies to whom I have guaranteed a victory on Thursday for the Gophs to lose this one for me. It would be almost as bad as when a bet with a Wolverine fan went wrong during the football season and I had to do Buffalo Wild Wings' Blazin' Challenge.

With a .333 BT winning %, it would be a new low for the NCAA tourney to take Minnesota. Might as well take the Little Sisters of the Poor and the pick up squad called Argosy U. And, is it too late for me to sit on the bench for Argosy?

Yes we have won some close games; that's why I said we were 2-6 in close games. I don't know how that shows that it evens out. We've hung with some good teams, even had the lead at the end in a few but just couldn't close it out. Again, not making excuses. But it at least says something that we were able to hang with some very good teams, even be in position to win.

All the 8 I'm counting went down to the wire. Six losses:
@Illinois - 2OT
@Michigan - had a chance to take the lead with under a minute left
Iowa - very close all the way to the end
@Iowa - had the lead late
Wisconsin - lost in OT
Michigan St. - blew a big lead late

Two wins:
@Indiana
Illinois in OT
