Final week of the regular season kicks off with a lot still to play for. Should be a fun week.
My rankings, week 10:
1. Indiana - Clinched at least a share of the title with their win over Iowa.
2. Ohio State - Big test looming for the Buckeyes in Bloomington.
3. Michigan - Can't drop them after winning a tough one at home against MSU, but certainly can drop them after the head scratcher in Happy Valley.
4. Michigan State - Might well be the third or second-best team in the conference, but three straight losses are tough.
5. Wisconsin - Truly a bad loss at home against Purdue on Sunday. Did this team peak too soon?
6. Illinois - Struggled against Nebraska at home but got the W. 6-1 in their last 7 games, but two road matchups left.
7. Minnesota - Did what they were supposed to do, pounding Penn State. Road games will determine if the Gophers are "back"
8. Iowa - Still with a good shot to finish .500 in conference, not so easy a feat for a team that was once 3-7.
9. Purdue - Finally get that signature win in Madison. Too little, too late, but Painter will be happy and it gives them confidence.
10. Nebraska - Still playing hard and smart, but just not enough talent in Lincoln to compete game in and game out.
11. Penn State - Symbolically I bump them out of the basement for this week. Congratulations Patrick Chambers and the Nittany Lions on their historic upset of Michigan.
12. Northwestern - Losers in their last six, their closest games being two 10-point losses to Ohio State.
Conference games of the week:
3/5: Illinois @ Iowa: If Iowa wins, Illinois in a much tougher position to get the 6th seed. If Illinois wins, Iowa will almost certainly finish in 8th or 9th.
3/5: Ohio State @ Indiana: Hoosiers can lock up the championship (not a shared one) with a win on Tuesday at home. Buckeyes can stay alive for the championship (a shared one) with a road win.
3/6: Michigan @ Purdue: Normally I'd pick Michigan all day here, but they've been bad on the road recently. A Boilermaker upset would not come as a surprise.
3/7: Wisconsin @ Michigan State: Wisconsin will look to bounce back from their worst loss of the season, but they'll have to do it in East Lansing.
3/10: Illinois @ Ohio State: Buckeyes will be looking for revenge against the Illini, who lit up the Buckeyes in early conference action.
3/10: Indiana @ Michigan: Wolverines might - might - be playing for a shared championship at home on the final day of the season.
