Season-ticket holders. ... Does anyone who ordered 'em remember when we're supposed to get word of seat location (100, 200, or 300 level)?

Selection, I recall them telling us tickets would be distributed a few weeks before the tournament, probably the last week in February. My guess is that if we are in 300 seats, they will give us a chance at throwing them back, so there may be some communication earlier if that is the case. I would say no news is good news for at least another couple of weeks. I may be jumping the gun a little, but this was the smoothest ordering process and the clearest communication we have ever had, so that makes me hopeful that if seats are nosebleeds, we will hear quickly.

Update

We won't get the tickets for awhile, but I was told yesterday that they'll notify me next week (Feb. 4-8) where my seats are. I hope that's not a bad sign.

Holy Man,

An update, and it was not a pleasant result for me. I was informed yesterday that our seats will be in the 300 level. Was told they sold aboout 700 tickets, which I think is about 200 more then they sold last year. Having a hard time understanding how a 700-ticket allotment (covering 3 different levels) results in a regular BTT purchaser getting placed in the nosebleeds. I know they have all their rules about points but it's frustrating to see the Johnny-Come-Latelys (with higher point rankings) who'll likely only show up for Gopher games get the best seats, while regulars who pretty much go every year & to all the sessions get shoved aside. I'm half wondering if I would have been better off ordering tickets via the general public route. I'm sure at least some of those were 2nd level?

Sign of the times, I guess.

I'm going to Plan B next year. A friend's in-laws are Golden Dunkers and have a high priority, and they never go to the BTT. I'll have them order the tickets and I'll just cut a check for them after they put it on their card. That's probably the only way I'll ever get 1st level seats again.

Hope you have better luck than I did!

Selection, did you get in touch with them about location or did they inform you through email? I went the Plan B route this year and ordered through two season ticket holders who have more points and more donations, but not high buck by any means. You now have me worried about where we might be seated. I am at the stage of life where the third deck is unaccaptable and I would rather watch on TV. I'll need to get in touch with my ordering conduits and see if they have heard something.

One thing they could do to eliminate the johnny come lately phenomena is to get a commitment in August instead of January. That at least gives people who are committed a shot before the bandwagon jumpers get in the game.

By the way, Plan B worked very nicely. I was able to get their numbers and put the charges on my credit card. For security purposes, they will only send the tickets to them, but at least we did not have to mess with money changing hands.

Holy Man, I got in touch with them. The guy was very professional, he understood that my anger wasn't directed at him, but I still had to vent my frustration. We're still going to Chicago, of course, but this is the last time I'm ordering with my points. I'm going through someone who I know would be in the first level. That's what I should have done in the first place because they never go to the BTT.

Such a great tournament to look forward to with how stellar the Big Ten is this year, but getting relegated to the nosebleeds has put a huge damper on it for me. I'm going to dodge a lot of United Center ushers to try to get into the lower level. Don't think I can sit through 11 games of nosebleeds. A few, maybe, but not the entire tourney.

I am guessing one of the problems with tickets is the number of corporate seats for sponsors, etc. When we got stuck in the nosebleeds in Indy, most of the guys with us poached seats at center court that belonged to Sunkist. They sat in the same seats all tournament. My guess is that you can do that easily for the first two days, maybe harder for Semis. I know some Chicago men in uniform and they have bigger fish to fry than seat poachers. If no one has the seat, they will let you stay there.
