I see the usual SEC defenders have been out in full force after the latest rankings. Specifically around Georgia being at #12. The complaint of course is that Georgia would easily beat teams like Penn St and Indiana. Why even play the games then? Just put in who everyone thinks is the best teams on paper.

A reminder, Georgia struggled with bad Florida (playing a 3rd string QB) and bad Miss St.

Tons of bias in the rankings. SMU has a better resume than Texas and Penn State at this point. Wins matter and losses should matter. I don't think close games matter as much. If a favorite doesn't blow out a team, but still wins, it should not count against them. It's hard to get your players to not overlook someone.

Rank your wins
Rank your losses
ignore closes games
look at strength of schedule

Notre Dame bad loss
Alabama bad loss and 2 losses
Georgia 2 losses
Texas lost to a team with 2 losses
Tennessee a bad loss
Miami a bad loss
Ole Miss a bad loss
Penn State a loss to 1 loss team

Oregon no losses
Indiana no losses
BYU no losses
tOSU a loss to a no loss team

I say bad loss because if your going to go through the season and be picked for the playoff you need to win your games. This isn't the NFL.

This first poll inserts some face saving as it doesn't really matter. I bet Indiana and BYU would be at least a field goal underdog against at least 10 of the top 12 teams on a neutral field if not a lot more. Miami close to a push versus those two.
