and the Minnesota blurb:
Minnesota’s class currently ranks 12th in the new-look Big Ten. The Golden Gophers added 15 commitments since the beginning of summer official visits — one from four-star wide receiver Bradley Martino, a Florida native who is one of two blue-chip prospects in the class. It’s a down year for in-state talent, with edge rusher Emmanuel Karmo the only blue-chip prospect in the state. He committed to Minnesota in April but took an official visit to Nebraska in June. The rest of the class is filled with players who are seemingly more long-term projects, with 14 commits who are rated in the 900s or lower nationally.

I have tended to look at the average player rating...seems like the most comparable stat of the bunch given the differing number of recruits? Gophs are 16th out of 18 using that stat.

An that is still good enough for 40th and 12th.

Again recruit who you want and those that want to be Gophers. Fill in the gaps with portal where needed.

40th is inflated at this point with 22 recruits already. Programs that fill later which are below 40th, but will certainly leapfrog the Gophers (assuming Gophers are nearly full) - Ole Miss, Florida, UNC, Utah, possibly MSU, possibly Iowa/Illinois depending on how much their crooting picks up (they only have 12-13 commits)
