B1G postseason awards

As a glass half full guy, it does mean that we managed to have a competitive (but mediocre) team with no one having stand-out seasons. I would be much more worried for the future if we were 6-12 with Ralph having a great season.

Williams could have maybe slipped into the Honorable mention instead of Evans, Berggren, or Watford. He really is about the only one that could get a legitimate look at any of those awards though.

Evans and Watford are understandable, but Berggren being on there and Williams not is a joke. Williams' numbers overall and in the Big Ten were better than Berggren's in just about every category. Berggren averaged just 9 points a game in the Big Ten and only scored in double figures 7 out of 18 games.

Williams has better numbers than Evans too in most categories. I think he should have made an honorable mention list.

I have no problem with Evans as he played very well in conference games, especially down the stretch. He's been very consistent.

Rodney and Evans were close in every category. Points were a wash. Evans had 1.4 more rebounds. Wash on assists. Rodney had an extra 0.6 steals and 0.5 blocks. Wash on turnovers...

Oh, here's a difference. Wisconsin won 6 more conference games than we did.

Long term I'd rather have Andre Hollins than Sobieski, Eliason isn't at Zellers level as a freshman but he has potential, they didn't have a star this year and it showed.

EE

I certainly agree EE doesn't belong on the all-freshman team. He never was a one and done, two and gone etc, player. But you can't teach 7-1 260 pounds. I understand he has done little on the offensive side, but how many of our ex-Gophers were better rebounders and defensive players as freshman bigs and didn't play in the NBA? He's a Dutcher big! He played 12-14 minutes per game behind a senior center in the best conference and was somewhat inconsistent. I expect all freshman to be inconsistent, much less one 7-1.

jovs, I agree with you long term on Dre over Sobolewski(sp?). I would throw in Joe as one with alot of potential and better than I was hoping for. No more excuses, time to win!. I'm sure your agree.

Go Gophers!
