B10 Season Awards

Well I cant say I'm completely shocked at the lack of gophers... but officially Zero in the media all big ten? yikes.

I dont have a stat sheet in front of me but I'm a little suprised that one of our LB's didnt scrape out a 2nd team big ten.

How in the hell does Juice Williams get honorable mention?

And how does Traye Simmons get an honorable mention over Mike Sherels?

Media poll...
2nd team WR: Zeke Markshausen, Northwestern

ROTFLMAO...... WTF???!!!!!

You be the judge, Squid boy Markshausen or Eric Freaking Decker?!? Due to injury, I see Decker as no lower than 2nd team in either poll.

Lloyd, Decker only played in half of the team's Big Ten games.

I can understand why he was left off. I guess I don't understand the outrage there.

What a joke - NW throws it 60+ times a game, the only way Marxhausen gets his yards. All of the NW receivers are about the same ability IMO. He far from terrible but there are so many in the B10 I would take over him if I were building a team from scratch. Here's my list in a particular order of the guys I would take before him.

1) E. Decker, MN
2) A. Benn, Ill - stats don't always tell how good a receiver is
3) K. Smith, Pur
4) T. Doss, Ind - might even be underrated at #4
5) B. White, Mich St.
6) B.J. Cunningham, Mich St.
7) D.J. Koulianous, Iowa
8) D. Moye, PSU
9) N. Toon, Wis
10) M. Dell, Mich St.
11) M. McNutt, Iowa
12) D. Posey, OSU

I have nothing againt Decker, heck my Dad was born and raised in Cold Spring and I'm related to half the town, but Purdue's Keith Smith should've been a unaminous 1st team selection across the board.

The first 7 on my list are probably slightly ahead of the rest - and you can make a case for any of them to be on the first team.

However, Zeke is not one of the best receivers in the conference. I get it. The media wants to reward NW for a good season. They're a nice story with 8 wins and overachieving. But it doesn't mean they should have players that leapfrog others who are better on worse teams just because of overall record. Everyone knows 3 players won all those games for NW this year: Mike Kafka, Corey Wooton (after he got healthy) and Sherrick McManus. Not Marxhausen.

picking traye over sherels is completely ridiculous, Traye was benched in almost every game he played and didnt even look like he wanted to play in other games, not sure if any coaches actually watch other games after seeing this list
