per Aaron:
Eric Murray boosted his football career with a powerful shove, a bold move that intimidated a high school competitor and built his reputation for nastiness.
Growing up in inner-city Milwaukee, Murray was once an overlooked athlete determined to win a college football scholarship. Although he was an athletic cornerback and wingback at Riverside University High School, Murray was hardly on any major schools’ recruiting radar. As he recalls, Wisconsin didn’t make it a habit to recruit from his blue-collar neighborhood.
Years before Murray signed a three-year free-agent contract in April with the Texans that carries a maximum value of $20.25 million with $10.75 million guaranteed, the veteran safety wanted to show then-University of Minnesota coach Jerry Kill that he deserved a chance.
