Just wanted to give this guy some love. He has been fantastic this year. Really growing into his own. Even when Bateman was here, Bell was our best receiver this year. Great hands, seems to run nice routes, good size, speed. Love this kid.

Not sure where, but IMO, this guy will make an NFL roster when he is done playing college ball.

Yep.

Also, he put an actual pancake block on a linebacker in the Nebraska game.

I am a big fan of CAB and excited to see what he can do over the rest of his time here but he isn't at Bateman's level and he certainly wasn't our best receiver while Bateman was here.

Bateman is going to be a high level NFL draft pick, CAB still has some proving to do before he is put into that class. That said he is a very talented receiver and it will be fun to see what he can do with a bigger role in the offense. Same can be said for Jackson now that he has moved up to the #2 spot.

As a prospect, he is not at Bateman's level. But sure seems like he was a large part of our offense this year.
After looking at stats, seems as if Bateman still has him. Sure felt like it though, this guy will have to be gameplanned against the rest of this year and next by every team in the conference.

Think we'll be fine at wr next year. Jackson doesn't thrill me at this point though. Comparing his freshman season to Bateman's leaves me feeling underwhelmed. Tough comparison I know but being fairly highly rated with many opportunities this year for him I expected a bit more. Not calling him a bust or anything just was hoping to see more from him this year.

This is the one position that the Gophers can probably lock and reload year in and year out. Thanks to PJ being former WR.

I am excited for the true Freshmen and incoming 2021 WR recruits to see what they can do. Keep them coming! That is one way to attract QBs who'd want to play for the Gophers. An offense that have weapons to throw to with a cavalcade of legitimate WR and flighty RBs. Hopefully, we can say that we will have a pipeline for OLs.

It is all about balance and developing players. Last season was also a testament to the Gophers coaching staff taking care of fundamentals. IMHO, they made playing for the team fun for the players.

Let's win a few titles and see what happens.

Going back to his freshman year....CAB has proven to be as reliable a pass catcher as any receiver that I've seen in Maroon and Gold. Simply doesn't drop the ball....and is usually even good to make catches that he probably shouldn't. Doesn't have the raw athleticism that makes Bateman a first rounder....but sure handed possession receivers like CAB elevate a team and absolutely have a place at the next level. Looks like a Thielen type player to me. Would be nice if he caught on with the Vikes after his senior season.

Keep putting players in the NFL PJ! That will be your best recruiting tool. I'm excited about the players we recently put there, and the ones we will be putting there. PJ may not be for everybody, but I think he's doing a great job.

This is the unquestioned benefit of Bateman opting back out. Morgan has been forced to become more ecumenical.
Morgan has offered that he has a strong christian faith. But I don't think Bateman leaving forced him to represent a number of different christian churches?

Also don't forget Matt Simon is the head of the WR room, as a former WR himself. In fact Fleck was his coach his last two years!

Rumors say there was a good, explicit reason he wasn't prior to Bateman opting out ...

It is great to see Daniel Jackson and Clay Geary (PWO?) step up. It bodes well for the future. The Gophers are truly an equal opportunity team. You earn a spot.

We shall see how Mike Stephens-Brown, Nnamdi Adim-Madumere, Douglas Emilien, Jonathan Mann, and others to see how they will step up. We have thirteen in the WR corps (minus Rashod Bateman and Demetrius Douglas). We have three new WRs coming in the 2021 class if they ink their NLI this coming Wednesday.

I think Jackson has been fine, I don’t think he’s had that many opportunities compared to Bateman in his first year. It’s be a huge and pleasant surprise if he became close to Bateman’s level, even though he was rated high, a lot of those guys don’t live up to their ratings.

CAB will play on Sundays, but I did want to comment about Geary.

For a redshirt senior who I am sure has faced battles with other young WR's coming in, he made an impression and had a good game against WI. There would be plenty of other guys the coaches could be playing instead of Geary.

Daniel Jackson will be fine.
Doesn't have Bateman's hands, but he's showing nice as a freshman. I don't think he's an early NFL guy, but he could be a very good Big Ten receiver for a few more years and NFL player.

This is what I am getting at with this post. CAB is close to Batemans level. Now we will need a couple of the others to step up and continue to develop. CAB is a stud and will be the #2 weapon behind Mo for this offense next year. Heck, he is right now.
