Austin Keel

I just posted a story on Austin Keel, a 6-foot-2 ½, 180-pound guard senior shooting guard from Winter Park (FL) High, who will get a visit from Minnesota assistant coach Vince Taylor Thursday. Keel is regarded as one of Florida’s top shooters. Taylor is going to visit Keel and Jonathan Holton, (who I recently did a story on) today. They are both teammates on the Gold Coast AAU team and are good friends.

I have a 3,8 GPA and had an 1110 on the ACT

Ruh roh.

1. If he scored an 1100 on the ACT, we might need FoT's gal pal Sandy Bell on here. Pretty sure the test is out of a possible 36 points.

2. If 1110 was his SAT score, that's trouble as well, considering that's the equivalent of a 14 on the ACT.

3. However, if he's counting his score without the writing component, he's in good shape (hopefully Door #3 )

If he had a 3.8 GPA, door #3 seems most likely, especially if he is hearing from Columbia. I'm not sure but I'm hoping for door #3...

Maybe they changed SAT scoring but the maximum used to be 1600 - 800 each Math and verbal.

1100 was a pretty good score back in my day. Not great but decent.

They've changed it. There is now a writing component as well; the test is now out of 2400 possible points (800 pts/section).

Agreed - Keel unlikely to be 1st round lottery pick like Bledsoe after frosh year.

But he (Keel) appears to be a MUCH better shotter than EB was/is.
