7. Mitch Leidner, Minnesota
There’s growing optimism about Leidner’s potential for 2016, especially after offseason foot surgery and a return to 100 percent. The Minnesota native has started 29 games in his career and is coming off career highs in passing yards (2,701), passing scores (14 TDs) and completion percentage (59.5 percent). Additionally, Leidner has recorded 23 rushing scores in three seasons with the Golden Gophers. Is Leidner ready to take the next step under new coordinator Jay Johnson and finish his career on a high note?

Go Gophers!!

Still mystified over this athlon crush on Beat-hard. Yippy, he beat (sometimes barely) some of the
crappiest teams in some of the easiest situations in college football. He's not special.

I'm pretty sure Athlon's articles are mostly written by computer script.

Leidner should be ahead of Tommy Armstrong and Wes Lunt. John O'Korn has to be based on potential and the hype around Michigan this year. We'll see if he even is starting this year.

Wes Lunt has more yards higher completion percentage more tds and fewer ints. Done it all with lesser talent around him at Illinois and is 1-1 vs Minnesota. But beyond all that sure.

Wes Lunt is talented, Tommy Armstrong has the potential to destroy any defense. Can't wait for this season to start.

O'Toole started for Illinois when they beat us. Also I would hope Lunt had better numbers, he plays in a Spread, lesser talent is debatable as Illinois usually out ranks us in recruiting, but clearly not as well coached talent in the Beckman years.

Including Nebraska's D with his bone head interceptions. Hope for more of the same in 2016.

I'm thinking they saw the picture of ML's foot, got a little queasy (Journalists), and thought how could anyone with a foot in that condition ever be 100%..JK. He's is a bit of an enigma right now...

They may have out ranked but it was not by that much. That being said I still think we have had more talent and still do. Do you think Illinois is more talented?

#7 B1G qb and 1st round nfl prospect. O.K., it all makes sense now.
Well one would have to believe that he is a 1st round pick. I like the attention that has brought the program but I have not seen 1st rd pick play from him at this point.

Ya I do, they also have inherited recruiting advantages. With a staff like Kill/Claeys they could've turned that program around with ease. Illinois problem has been coaching, the right coach with Chicago and St.Louis as there recruiting background could turn them into Big Ten West power easily. Did NDSU have more talent than us, or USD no, but we lost to them because Tim Brewster didn't have a clue

You must be going by career stats because if you look at last year Leidner was either just as good or better in just about every major category other than INT. Higher completion percentage, YPA, total TDs, rating, etc. I would say they are pretty close to each other at this point based on their career. The last season should carry the most weight when looking at a player IMO.

OMG people...it's an early prediction based on his size and on ML's potential of having a better season than last year. The QB pool is not that deep for next draft.

So what you are saying is that we have the 6th best talent in the division? Can we stop blaming Brewster f#ck is has been 5 plus years now.
