I am a long time lurker and 1st time poster. I was at the game today in the student section, as well as all but the Illinois game (had to work up north). I have a few thoughts on today's game.
1) The crowd was putrid, especially the students. 5000 students do not even show up and many of them left at half time. It was not even that cold and most deer should have been shot last weekend.
2)The product on the field was awful. I can see why people do not want to show up. The play calling, Weber, time outs before half, squib kick, I could go on. The gophers looked absolutely awful today (except for the defense, thought they played well).
3)On the upside, I do think we have a good talent base for the future. We have what could be amazing crop of receivers. Whaley, Carter, Cooper, Willhite, Kirksey, Edwards, and of course Gray all look like very very good players in the future. We have to thank Brewster for those guys because they all will be major players in their upperclassmen years.

Now I do not know the answer to our problems. I do think Brewster needs another year, but he and the coordinators need to improve as much as our players do. That is one thing I do not think we have seen is coaching improvement. Our players do get better, but the coaching needs to get better. I hope Brewster can get better because he has brought in very good talent, but today showed that he has the ability to coach his way out of town.

Also,
Has anyone else ever noticed how our defensive backs, most notably the safeties, take terrible read steps, have horrible ball skills and have awful pre-snap reads. I played some safety in college, and I cannot fathom how they do not get absolutely screamed at in their meetings because they severely lack those aforementioned skills. I see how we get burned fairly often. Collado has the best mechanics as a safety and he's a damn corner.

The answee to your question is Kevin Cosgrove, the train wreck we call Minnesota's DC

I don't think there was a question to 'answee'

Anyway welcome to the board gophervet. I sit in section 117 right by the student section. All year I've loved sitting next to them, but today row 10 took until the 3rd quarter to fill up. Pitiful.

Hopefully Brew starts recruiting entire freshman classes so we can have some fans on seats next year.

I thought Ronnie Lee was the co-defensive coordinator and DB coach; and I thought the defense played well today according to this board. You are delusional.

Our Safety's our weakest part of our D by far. Oh and good news.....we get them both back next year.
