Since Kill has retired, that left the Gophers with one less coach than what is allowed.
I don't recall seeing that any grad assistant has been moved to an interim paid coaching position. Is a spot just being vacated for this year?

Jay Nunez is effectively acting as special teams coach while Sawvel is effectively acting as DC.

Keep Sawvel on staff at all costs. He deserves it. I hope (and think) they will be able to get the majority of the staff to remain.

Sawvel was the only one that really looked like he was ready to take the next step up the ladder so assuming Claeys promotes him to DC that will be a good thing. As for the rest of the guys the only reason they wouldn't be back would be if they didn't get along with Claeys. Assuming that is not the case I don't see any of them getting offered a better situation then what they have right now.

It will be interesting to see if Coach Claeys makes any changes with the offensive staff this off-season.

Offense is coming a round, so I'd like to see another year out of this group. There are guys right in our back yard that could also help our QB's.

Brooks Bollinger @ Cretin. I believe he quit coaching college due to family time desires, however.
Chris Meidt @ Becker. Former St Olaf coach and Redskins QB coach. Recruited really well in Florida.

Again I might want to see a full year from this group without Kill.

My guess would be that he won't make any major adjustments to the staff this off season. One thing about a tight knit group like this one is that their coaching tree really doesn't branch so it is unlikely that Claeys has a bunch of coaches that he would really want to get on his staff over the guys he has been working with for years. Certainly could be wrong but I would expect the staff turnover to be minimal.

I hope Claeys lets Limegrover concentrate on the Offensive Line, and hires a known offensive mind for the OC position.

That's not going to happen.
I know people absolutely hate our offense. I think it's only fair to point out that shortening games, running between the tackles, and minimizing the risk of turnovers or negative plays led to this program climbing back to this point. Our defense, special teams, and running game brought us here.
Limegrover may never repair his reputation to some people. His bad playcalls seem to get lambasted, his brilliant ones a passing nod. His terrible gameplans become his identity, yet his great ones are only remembered as flashes in the pan.
I think he has it in him to become a pretty good OC moving forward with a veteran QB now and hopefully a less decimated O-line that can make 3 yards out of a run up the middle. I see potential. I would think his O-line duties will be discussed and probably surrendered to a full time O-line coach and the perspective he can gain from that move will only help things.

Right now, "this point" is having won only 1 of our last 8 games against Power 5 competition.

Which is funny because coming into the big ten season there weren't many teams that had won more conference games than the gophers over the past two years. Weird.

A healthy deep offensive line will be key for the Gophers to contend next season.

In the beginning of the season, we thought that we we had great depth until the injuries started piling up.

Yep and "this point is a hellava lot better than the point we were at in 2011 when we had won 4 of 18 games total including 2 to FCS teams, NIU, and NMSU.
You can hate the offense but don't discount it's place in Kill's formula.
