Where are the Lofton defender team i mean apologists that insisted Lofton had no grade issues? looks like the kid is going the prep school route because he was a partial qualifer. hopefully the kid puts as much energy into his books as he does his outbursts and then he'll be in good shape.

There is no such thing as a partial qualifier (as it relates to a 2011 kid going to D1), but if he is a nonqualifier that would only bolster your comments.

Stan the GopherHole staff has specifically asked that posters do not talk about Zach Lofton.

If that's a joke, it's a good one.

Watch out GL (or the man behind the curtain) might delete this tread.

Must be something special about the kid, since you created a whole thread just to try and bash the 18 year old. get a life...anyway, the Gophers better start trying to recruit him for 2012. he'll be one year stronger, smarter, and better.

The Gophers will be sorry they let kids like zach and Ross travis get out of MN.the state of MN needs a few more D1 schools, so all this local talent doesnt keep escaping. In my opinion these 2 kids are the cream of the crop,

also in my opinion Joe's skill set is very limited, he is strong and he finishes strong at the rim but is undersized, cant shoot or handle the ball. Hope he grows a couple inches then he could be great, I brought this to your attention since kid bashing is what y'all like to do.

I have no idea how Joe will turn out, but I don't agree with the notion that Tubby needs to lock up every single MN kid.

Tubby grabbed Andre Hollins, who is from Memphis, but rated (and looks) better than both Travis and Lofton.

The Gophers should sign the best players available. Period. If they happen to be from MN, great. If not, that's fine too.

If you think Lofton is one of the best players available that is your opinion and you can be disapointed Tubby didn't grab him. But I won't be upset just because Tubby signed someone better from out of state over a MN kid.

Well put sir,
idk how well Hollins will turn out, he was mr. basketball TN so we shall see.
But I def think Ross and Zach are studs and will be missed
I'm not upset about tubby not grabbing every MN kid, but I have a problem with MN sports having its head up its butt and missing out on kids they have in their own back yard.
I hope Hollins and Joe have great careers and I wish the same for Ross, Zach, and all the other local talent.
Time will tell, zach will have his chance in 2012.

Zach may even get a Gopher offer in 2012, lucky for recruits Tubby doesn't (I hope) base his offers on what GH thinks. At this point, I don't think Zach is deserving of the Gopher offer. But I will never count a kid out if he works hard enough this next year he may get there.

Nothing against Zach personally, talent wise right now I felt Andre and Joe are better players. With a solid summer and season Zach may get himself some high major offers including MN. Who knows.

I don't think anyone has a problem with Tubby getting the best players he can get, form MN or not. But when you get players like Ahamnasi, Elliason, Armelin, etc.. why you pass on MN players who are as good or better I think that's when it becomes a problem.

If he is a non-qualifier, wouldn't he need to get his two year degree first to be eligible as a 2013 recruit?

IDK, how it works. but from my understanding he has an oppurtunity to improve his grades by reclassifying as apart of the class of 2012 and be eligible for D1 college next year, and he'll retain all four years of eligiblity.

This kid rips it up everywhere across the country against the best talent. #justsayin.

WTF? Eliason, who has yet to step on the floor in a game, is a bust? You are a great basketball mind.

Thank you! I'm not saying any of the are a bust but obviously you must think Armelin and Ahamnesi are..... What I'm saying is that there were as a high or higher rated players from MN that Tubby chose to pass on (Noreen and Jett come to mind). If you're going to reach why not for one of our own. Not to comment on Julian Welch because I've never seen him play but for a kid who orginally signs with UC-Davis why not give a kid like Estan Tyler a chance. Those types of decisions are going to lead to how much loyalty kids like Tyus Jones and Rashad Vaughn should really for our hometown team.

Sompls making very good points, as usual.

And I'm sure the Gophs will offer him for 2012, right after every other school in the nation does. MN is always late and one step behind when it comes to recruiting.

The kid averaged 30 pts per game, while leading his team to its first state tourney in 81 years, and first championship game in forever in our own state. all i'm saying is, I hope they are interested in this kid and I hope they are expressing that interest to him.

If he is a non-qualifier, wouldn't he need to get his two year degree first to be eligible as a 2013 recruit?

In this case, Lofton is technically probably neither a qualifier nor a nonqualifier, he's just going to prep school for a year. Perhaps that is because he likely would be a nonqualifier. If so, but he gets his academics in order enough to qualify after a year of prep school, he would join a program just as any other freshman would (with a five year clock starting in 2012-13 and four years of competition remaining).

Some kids, after four years of high school, are in a position academically where they need two years of school in order to be in a position to potentially qualify to play D1 basketball. Some of these kids go on to get a two year degree prior to enrolling at a D1 institution.

There are a lot of paths to take and different reasons to take those paths... if we assume Lofton doesn't believe he would qualify in 2011-12, but feels he'll be eligible after a fifth year via one year of prep, then this move makes sense and isn't all that rare. I hope he does well and reps Minnesota no matter where he lands, no reason not to wish him well.

Zach Lofton stock is rising fast

He's been clowin all over the country...I did see he picked up a duqeunse and a uw millwauke offer I also seen on the Indiana forum they said he torched their kids they were watchin or in their words no 1 could stop him...funny what you can find on google...let's hope he can get his head right

is it just me, or are Jigga, SoMpls, keepit100 and gogopher the same person?

Who knows. But Zach Lofton and Jacob Thomas non=qualifiers? Columbia Heights HS must not place a big emphisis on academics. You can't "own" college basketball if you can't even get into school.

I think suma yall have muti-names and to much time

yea we all look alike but so do yall....I'm glad yall ain't doin the recruitin cuz we'd never win...or maybe yall are cuz we never do

well should we recruit jacob thomas, zach lofton, carlos emory....../other players who won't even qualify to play? Actually we were 16-4 before injuries and transfers ruined us. thankyou

non confrence bums

I'm a die hard but we should have been 20-0 with the teams we played...just sayin

#24 wisconsin in madison, #2 OSU in Columbus, and I believe #19 or so MSU at Breslin Center. You're right easy wins all of them.
