As I feared Seantrel and Co had stars in their eyes

I haven't really followed Seantrel's recruitment closely at all until the last couple days, but the more I read the more it seems Seantrel's father had a lot more say in where Seantrel was going to go to school than Seantrel had himself. Just my opinion though. Would have loved to see him in Maroon and Gold, but we all just need to move on. Sean didn't want his son to play here, so he's not playing here.

Bottom line is nobody knows what the kid wanted.

Did he want to get out of the cold?

Did he want to play in big games?

Did he want to broaden his horizons and leave home?

Did he want to be challenged every day in practice?

USC could fulfill all of these questions. We just don't know what the kid wanted, so there really is no use in regurgitating the same old crap.

What Do You Expect?

Daddy wants to be a rap star. You got to get to LA to make it, man! He like the limo life...

I don't blame him for choosing SC, but who knows he might be back to play for the old Maroon and Gold.

Either do I. When a kid chooses a school that far away, it makes me think that he wanted to try something new and different.

Now a kid like Beau Allen chose Wisconsin, and that is inexcusable to me. You can't lose instate recruits to border schools. Never ever.

Beau's choice was not surprising at all considering that both his parents went to the University of Madison - Wisconsin.

Who cares about Beau Allen, we have as good or better guys coming in. The Henderson's should have been honest with Brewster, they had no intention of coming here and should have said so. Brewster waisted alot of time and energy on this guy.

Shouldn't matter to the kid. I think people are way overplaying that aspect as a convenient excuse. Both schools are too similar and one is 15 minutes away from home compared to 4 1/2 hours away. Plus we just had 2 Seniors graduating at his position.

Really? So if I move to Wisconsin and i'm a true-blue Gopher fan, my kid isn't going to be influenced by the way he was brought up (as a Gopher fan) and just choose the school that's closest? You make no sense. He's probably been watching Badger sports his whole life. His parents going to Wisconsin makes a HUGE difference in his decision.

I coach kids on my football team that have been born and raised here but are huge Packer/Badger fans because of their parents. If they could choose a school, they'd choose Wisconsin.

Plus the Wisconsin Football program has been more successfull than the Gophers in recent years.

I think the "close to home" can work against us when recruiting metro kids. I didn't grow up in the Twin Cites but if I had I'm not sure I would have wanted to go to school that close to home. Some kids want to put some distance between themselves and their parents when they go to college.

Although that doesn't apply to the original topic of the post as SH's family will be moving with him (which is still contend is awfully strange).

"Henderson also thought it was interesting that USC would appear before the NCAA's committee on infractions from Feb. 19-21 because Seantrel's two sisters have birthdays on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21. "It's just a lot," he said. "It kind of seems like fate to a certain extent."

Normally I agree, but Beau's parents are like most Wisconsin grads... Gotta go somewhere to find a job - either Minnesota or Chicago... He is a Badger and has been one his whole life.

Alright, for me this isn't really an arguement over Beau Allen so to speak. I actually like our DT recruits. This mainly is a philosophy arguement as to you can't lose recruits to border rival schools. If we are ever going to get to where we need to as a program, we might lose a few over time to the "huge" name programs USC, Florida, Notre Dame, etc.(and I include Ohio State in that category). We can't really do much about that. But an IA or WI, just can't happen. And trust me, I know that they have been better programs recently.

Bottom line though, MN athletes get much more exposure to MN athletics than to WI athletics. Local Papers, New broadcasts, Sunday night sportswraps, friends going to the U, seeing everyday people at local stores wearing U apparrel. You just don't get that with WI if you live in Minnetonka, or wherever the next example could be from. Am I making my point? I might be rambling?

I dont blame him for picking USC or any other school, its his choice.

But my issue is that the criteria they were basing their choices off of was seemingly shallow. This quote on Tressel kinda struck me:

"He's so informative and so to the point and so much about business, that it was a little boring," Sean Henderson said.

Recruitment shouldn't be based off who can entertain you the best, or who you feel buddy-buddy with or what location can help further you rap career the best.

It should be about the best decision for Seantrel, wherever that may be. I am glad he clicked with Kiffin, but geez, Kiffin says they will be OK with the NCAA so big Sean just accepts that? Smartly he hasnt inked it yet.

I guess my main point is that you don't see IA or WI losing on of their Top 5 guys that they had an offer out to coming to MN; but we see it almost every year the other way.

The family is moving with??? That is strange. Can you say,,,,Reggie Bush.

You sound like an idiot though, so I am not going to stop you.

:confused::confused::confused:

Yeah that was weird as all get out. What the heck does that even mean? That some cosmic forces led to him choosing USC and to USC having their infractions hearings on the same days his two sisters? Right, whatever you say. Completely and totally bizarre.

+1 "It's fate that my dad liked the money that USC offered and he thinks he'll be a rap star. That's fate."

the whole thing is this...

A young kid who is lost to the control of others. Not uncommon but this situation has big time sad potential. Maybe should have concentrated on school instead of going all over hell on visits. Being number one, he could have taken all spring to commit. i would hate to see this kid follow in Ashley's footsteps.

This is silly. Another never ever that fails to deal with reality.
