Are you Hungry or are you starving for a Gophers Victory and which Buffet would you eat at?
We are Minnesotans and like Cheap eats.

I would eat until I could just about not walk if it meant the Gophers start 4-0 and win Thursday against UNLV. I'm Pumped for the game.

If a buffet is what you're looking for, Main Street Station downtown is one of the best in town. Reasonably priced, nice variety and they keep everything fresh. Also, if you play there at all, they're pretty liberal with their comps. This place is one of Vegas' best kept secrets.

Main Street Station? Yikes. I've never been impressed. Maybe for the price it's not horrible but it's not good.

On the list, I'd avoid Circus Circus, Imperial Palace, Palace Station, Stratosphere, Buffalo Bill's.

The Orleans would probably be alright, the Mirage and Bellagio would be better (probably Bellagio the best).

The Rio Seafood buffet isn't "bad" but the few times I've been there the wait makes it not worth it. You have to wait for your number to be called, just for the opportunity to wait in line to get in.

The M is the best kept secret in town, but it's relatively out of the way. A fantastic buffet (I've heard), great sports book where I'm fairly certain it's a mandatory "DD" to be hired as a cocktail server.

Also "Off-Strip", I would recommend either of the higher end Station Casinos; Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock Station. But I'm guessing most of the Gopher visitors are staying on the Strip.

You did catch the part about Minnesotans being cheap and liking cheap food. I agree the off strip places Red Rock station and Station casinos are where the locals go and have good food. Circus Circus sucks, not that they were ever good but when it was $3.99 it was edible.
Orleans is the best breakfast and Imperial palace has good food for the price. I avoid Rio Seafood because of the wait and I'm not a big seafood guy. Buffalo Bills is good for cheap fill your butt up eats. Golden Nugget has best buffet downtown, I avoid the Stratosphere now because of the expensive cab rides and the place is in a really dumpy unsafe part of town, Main Street Station the vagrants hit you up for money comming and leaving and are really agressive. Luxor I have never been in the casino or buffet, so I will have to put that on my list
of places to stay and eat.

No CiCi's pizza buffet? I once ate 2.5 large pizzas at a CiCi's in Texas.

I've had the Bellagio buffet a couple times now and it has been fantastic both times. Others in my group have thought the same so we'll be there on Thursday morning getting a nice base before the pregaming begins. If you want to go there, keep in mind that holiday pricing starts on Friday and then it's probably not worth the $$$. I'm guessing that's not the only buffet with the holiday pricing either.

Being a very large man...I have frequented many of the vegas buffets...have to say, dollar for dollar, Red Rock is awesome. Best in town (money is no object) is at Ballys for Brunch in the steakhouse there...it was incredible. Day in and day out the bellagio hits the spot. If you are looking for an eastern flare, the spice market at planet hollywood is cool and tasty.

Whatever or wherever you choose for a buffet...screw the salads and minor crap. Take a small dab of potatoes and gravy, and load up with all the beef you can eat, and return trips are allowed. Beef, it's what's for dinner.

I once went out for a dinner with a friend of mine...His quote of the day was: "I'm not very hungry, I'll just have the buffet."

For it's price the Excalibur buffet is pretty dog-gone good.

I just left the Tr. Island Buffet that was a $23 buffet that I had a 2 for 1 deal on. It was clean and OK, but beyond the prime rib, not quite as great as expected.

The Gopher fans were starting to flow into the hotel throughout the day though, especially as we caught the cab down to Fremont Street.

two observations:

-the Gopher fan base continues to be so tilted to AARP status that even neutral bystanders take note of that fact

-as a light gambler that does not seek out Las Vegas as a destination, the old "Fremont Street Experience" part of LV is a whole lot more appealing to me than the strip. The old Fremont area is very gritty, a better value, and a whole lot more fun than the Strip. Sure there are some down and out folks there, but there is a lot of 1950's history there, is less generic, and provides more comped drinks in my experience.
