And anyone else who demanded Maturi have NO ROLE in this process. At his press conference to announce the Brewster firing, I though Maturi FINALLY got it. I thought he learned from the Tubby experience and now knew what a hiring process for a BIG TIME job opening should look like. Now we have a 49 year old guy with ZERO experience recruiting Big Ten caliber athletes in charge of our football program. Can anyone see Jerry Kill's recruiting classes ranking higher than 8th in the Big Ten? We're back to picking up scraps, "coaching them up", and hoping to finish 4-4 or 5-3 in the conference in a "good" year. I don't see any scenario where we win a conference title with Jerry Kill.

I honestly do not believe any A.D. in the country could F up a coaching search/hire more than Maturi just did.

Couldn't agree more. Knew we were in for trouble when he needed a search firm. His #1 responsibility as AD is to keep a list of potential candidates and continually gauge interest for and in his football program.

Me too. Especially my excessive rants against Mr. Kelly. Who I might personally send an apology letter to.
 


Why would you apologize to a group that was pushing Trestman?
 

This is going to be a 'tough sell' for the pr/marketing dept. Horton would have been much more appealing to more fans.
 

I am so excited that our own would smear their University and AD, so he can't make an over the top hire. Way to go all you savegopherfootball guys.

Why apologize? Maybe they should apologize to us? A lot on the list never played in a Rose Bowl, that's what were looking for right? Maybe the rich can pay us to sit in the seats. 23 years of season tickets, no new years day bowls.
 

They might have been right. Joel and Dave two aw-shucks, boy scout, midwest boys are what we sent them to recruit power coaches. I wonder what an SEC guy like Mullen thought of their act if he actually sat down with them.

You pompus fantasy football recruiting dudes and dudettes got from maturi and prexy b exactly what you have put into this football program. Now, the M-MEN actually have put a tremendous amount of themselves into Gopher Football. I watched so many of them play. You people don't have a clue about how difficult it is to win big in the Big Ten. EVERY Big Ten win is precious and must never be taken for granted. Those M-MEN are real people and certainly should have been listened to by the administration AND should not have been crapped on by pompus little cheap-shot artists and mobbers and bashers like some of you on this board.

I've got to believe this hire will work out better than that brewball hire prexy b and his boy maturi came up with when they settled for less than zero in brewster.
