What??????

Have you watched them play?
They look really good.

If the qb plays as well as he did as a freshman and sophomore (he is playing better through 2 games) they will win at least 6 games this year.

Don't think they are top 25 worthy but they look a lot better than Michigan state, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, and Purdue through two weeks.

I did - I watched a lot of their first game against FCS Southern Illinois and the Salukis were 5 yards away from having a 2-pt conversion to tie the game in the final seconds.

While they are better than a year ago, nothing about that game said to me that if I were a voter I should be voting them #16 in my top 25 poll, which is probably how they got 9 votes.

They played a very good game against Cincinnati and it would be great for the Gophers if the Illini and Purdue both win a lot of B1G games.

Illinois has been bad for a long time, punctuated with a rose bowl trip that at least happened within the last 10 years. That seems to get them more street cred than the Gophers, even if the Gophers have run up a pretty guady head to head record against them over the past 10-15 years.

Home or away, the only team on that list that Illinois can beat is Purdue. Speaking of Purdue, they might challenge for worst Big10 team in history this year...they are truly awful.

After Miami (OH), the best chance they have at a win for the entire B1G schedule is a road game at Purdue. They could go 0-8 very, very easily.

And no, I haven't watched them play because they're not on the Gophers schedule this year, although I agree with nokomismod, the more B1G games Illinois and Purdue (and tOSU for that matter) win the better for the Gophers, for the most part.

ESPNs Big ten blog power rankings have the gophers at 7 ahead of Illinois and MSU, and Iowa, Purdue and IU for that matter as well
