per the AP:
Purdue coach Darrell Hazell is starting to watch the pieces come together and likes what he sees.
Players seem to be on board with what the second-year head coach is trying to accomplish, Hazell says. They care, too, not just about what they're doing on the field, but about one another. And over the first half of the season, Hazell has witnessed the Boilermakers develop a quality that many teams struggle to find — a bond and a chemistry among players.
"I feel like 99 percent of our football team has dove into the water," Hazell said. "Last year we had a couple of guys sticking their toe in and couple of guys would jump in, but I think they're all in right now and I think that's why we're seeing the progress that we're seeing at the rate we're seeing it."
