Not too shabby. Would guess Bateman has a great shot at earning first team honors next year. Still can't believe Winfield was not a finalist for the Thorpe award this season. Hopefully it motivates him to come back next year and win it :)

Awesome. Both are superstars we will be able to watch for years in the NFL.

Winfield has now made two of the five official All-American teams used by the NCAA to determine consensus, while making six teams overall. Those still out include Coaches, Sporting News and the FWAA writers teams. He's one team from consensus - as a sophomore!

A very very mature Sophomore. :)

Was great to see him put together a healthy campaign and really show off what he can do. The talent has been obvious from the beginning but he just couldn't stay on the field. I wonder how long he will wait to make an official declaration as to his plans for next year?

One question I have is has he graduated, or will he this Spring? Always can start a grad program...I wonder if he will try to stick around if he graduates.

I've never wanted the Vikings to draft someone more than AWJr, especially given that it sounds like he might be available for a mid-round pick.

Congrats to these young men! AFAIK, Minnesota's last concensus All-American was Greg Eslinger in 2005. Almost 15 years. Wow.

These two young men deserve these honors. Congratulations to both.

It would seem a 1st team All American should be a high draft choice?
I wonder if these no round projections and 6th round projections are because he is a Sophomore they are too lazy to include him or pay him close enough attention?
Or is his height a significant factor? Injury history? What? Seems he’d be a solid Top 100 guy normally?

All of the above.

For example, I follow this guy closely, because he has a knack for identifying under the radar guys. He admitted a couple weeks ago that they didn’t have him in their database, but would soon. He’s a Vikings fan, even though he’s from North Carolina, so he knows about AW Sr. He’s been all over TJ and Bateman, so it’s not as though he doesn’t know about the program. I’m chalking it up to laziness, and too much focus on shiny objects (Alabama, LSU, etc). I think it will work itself out eventually.
