Bleed, get yourself a big framed dog, a lab or something similar, that has a big bark, put an empty dog bowl/dish outside your door to let it be known you have a dog (the bigger bowl the better), and you'll be all set to go. If you don't want to get a dog, get the dog bowl and maybe play some pre-recorded dog barking in your home on a loop every now and then.
In all seriousness, we have the Ring video door bell on both of our homes and I think we like it. Motion-detecting, it records video anytime someone is near your door, you can talk through the speaker no matter where you are when someone does come to your door; so far it works pretty good I think?
