It kinda frustrates me because he basically carries the spartans to beat us, and then he gets hurt toward the end of the Wisconsin game (who knows what may have happened there, MSU could have come back to beat them) and now he will likely not play against Illinois tonight, giving them a better opportunity to knock off a top ten team, giving them a quality win that might not be justified.

Injuries like this frustrate the hell out of me, if Kalin gets hurt in our game, we probably are sitting here with a nice quality win on our resume.

Obviously, you cant control these things, so I shouldn't really get worked up about it, but it annoys me.

Thems the breaks I guess. (and were not getting any this year)

hmmmm

As a Gopher fan, I can see the frustration as we would likely have won that game without Lucas. However, I cannot find myself wishing a player was hurt when we played him....

Mostly I feel for MSU as a club for missing Kalin, but it's only for a game or two. We as gopher fans know all about missing key pieces of the puzzle, but it is frustrating. Wonder where they would be without Lucas.

Agreed. I guess I'm just jealous, because lets say Illinois wins tonight and Lucas does not play. It goes down as a quality win for Illinois against Mich. State. When in actuality they beat a different MSU team than we lost to twice.

Injuries happen. It's not really fair to the team or to the teams they're playing against, but it's just part of the game. Even if you had beaten MSU, you know the committee would be saying "but wait, that top-10 team they beat was missing their best player." I just try not to worry about these things. Although I wouldn't be mad if Kalin was unable to play on Tuesday :p

Frustrating

The frustrating part is that we should have won that game against MSU at The Barn regardless of whether Lucas was in the game...right?

Lucas is out for tonight, according to BTN reporter. Go Illini.

Yeah, injuries suck for any team. I hate to say this, but that's why I'm giving grudging respect to Wisconsin.

Go Spartans

Yes it is an unfavorable turn for the Gophers.

Them's the breaks.

Go Spartans.

As far as close loses to teams that go on to lose good players goes... I still feel pretty bad for Texas A&M losing Roland. They are doing ok without him, but they undoubtedly would be doing much better with him and IMO would be a shoe in for the tourney with the way that they have been playing lately.

Things happen in sports. A guy can't play on a sprained ankle and expect to help his team. I personally think MSU is obviously better off without him until he is fully recovered. I understand your frustration, but MSU is still loaded with talent beyond the Big Ten's best PG. It takes a mighty effort for any team to beat them even without Lucas.

Would rather have seen MSU win it..but Illinois has a brutal schedule coming up and they will take 2 to 3 losses in the next two weeks. I'm not worried about them..I'm just concerned about our team. With some home cooking and solid play, we could could still finish strong. Its now or never as 4 of next 5 are at home.
