The situation: I have tickets to Saturday's game vs Nebraska. The person I was going to backed out, which leaves me in a sticky situation, and not the good kind of sticky situation. I've already paid for the tickets and now am out a person.

What I need: A single enthusiastic Gopher Football fan living in the Twin Cities that wants to see the tied-for-the-top of the division Gophers play in Lincoln Nebraska and are willing to put up with a 6 and a half hour car drive each way to see it. I also want a person that promises not to carjack me under penalty of breaking a promise and committing a felony. The ticket is $80, if you would like to chip in for fuel costs, that would be great.

The tickets: Are in section 20, aka the Southwest end zone. I've never been to Memorial Stadium so I'm not sure how the sightlines are.

The travel details: The car ride according to Google is around 6 and a half hours. We would leave Saturday morning with the hopes of being there around 3-4 PM for some tailgating.

Please let me know if you are interested, I know it's a little close to the game date but if any of you are interested, please let me know! I apologize if this is in the wrong forum.

This should be a good road trip! So you are driving back that same night?

Instead of driving it, you could look at the Creative Charters bus option. Enjoy the ride with a group of fun Gopher fans.

Hotels are the critical path problem of the trip to Lincoln. If they're including that in the bus trip, it may be worth it.

Just remember that if you're staying in Omaha, it takes a LONG time to get out of town on eastbound I-80. Especially after a night game.

umm, roughly how long to get from Lincoln to Omaha after a night game? All us Micks are driving home after the game, 3 hours north of Omaha.

Good to know. We booked a room in Omaha but hopefully with the nice weather we can linger for a bit at the stadium.

Has anyone taken you up on this yet? If not, I am very very tempted to attend my first ever Gopher road game.

If you guys wanna road trip/car pool with with me and compadre that would be cool. We are going to leave Mpls around 8am, get checked in to a hotel in Old Town Omaha and head to Lincoln to tailgate. Hotels are around $100 per night.

We have hours and hours of Gopher Marching band cassette tapes that will play at full volume the whole way there (just kidding).

It's actually a lot like trying to get onto 218/27/380 when leaving Kinnick to the west. Nebraska Department of Roads/State Patrol shut down through lanes of eastbound 80 so that merging traffic from downtown can get out easier.

That said, the year I went there for a night game (2012?), the NDOR was in the process of expanding 80 from 2 lanes to 3 between Lincoln and Omaha. It's been done for a couple of years, so that will help keep traffic moving out of town.

I'm scheduled to get married that night. Anyone think that I can do the ceremony via skype and it would be cool?

Varies greatly, between getting out of parking lot and Lincoln and the drive on the interstate, could take up to 2+ hours.

I feel for you! Tell the soon to be Mrs. that Lincoln is a great honeymoon spot...;) All I can say is I am so glad I was able to convince my wife that a June wedding is much better than a fall one....

Man I wish I could do this. Going to Illinois kind of sealed my fate.

Be loud and proud in Lincoln!

Go Gophers!!!

Anybody know how gameday traffic will be coming into Lincoln on Saturday? I'll be staying in Ames on Friday night and hopefully getting into town around noon...

The dumb thing is we picked this weekend because it was an away game and had a late wedding to miss the 11 AM start. Good job, me.

Get there early.

We took the backroads rather than the freeway after the game to Omaha where we stayed.

Yeah. That is what stinks about planning such events. If you add on that they weren't scheduling night games as often late in the season, you'd think you'd be safe. Hopefully someone will record this for you.
