anybody else see this on ESPN's E:60?

Absolutely tragic. After watching this video, concussions should never be taken lightly. Ever.

This story is so very sad, I could not keep the tears from flowing as I watched it. A young man's life destroyed because someone did not pay attention to his symptoms, or ask any questions or the right questions. This is not a sprained ankle or shoulder separation, this is a violent injury to the human brain which does not heal quickly. The state high school leagues, the NCAA, and the NFL need to implement and enforce comprehensive concussion prevention and treatment plans at all levels.

The NCAA has tried to crack down in helmet to helmet hits, but the enforcement has been pretty erratic. We can get better protective equipment, but those gains in protection are lost if people think it that it makes it safer to play in a more hazardous manner.

That was gut wrenching. I tend to be one of those guys that thinks "just walk it off" when I, my kids, or others get injured. This is a tragic example of WHY it is important to take concussions seriously. I wonder if any of the folks thinking Kurt Warner should have played right away when he had his concussion last season would have felt the same way had they seen this E:60 piece?
