There have been lots of discussions about Badgers coaches and AJ, but has anyone heard anything new on RoJo or Beal? I have to wonder if Beal is thinking about hanging it up after another serious knee injury, but maybe he will be back for next year? I thought Johnson had some really good play this year, and I really would like to see him back next year.

Also, I know Mottla had his surgery earlier, and I am assuming he will be healthy by next season and maybe even for Spring practice?

Go Gophers!

per Sid:

"Junior defensive tackle Roland Johnson and redshirt junior linebacker Brendan Beal will not play in the bowl game because both will have knee surgery. Sophomore wide receiver Marcus Jones, who has missed nine games because of a knee injury, is also most likely out. Sophomore tight end Drew Goodger, who started seven consecutive games but missed the final two of the regular season because of a dislocated shoulder, is also questionable to return. However, Kill is hopeful offensive linemen Tommy and Ed Olson will be able to completely heal from ankle injuries, along with redshirt sophomore Marek Lenkiewicz -- who has missed two games because of a leg injury. The Gophers also hope to get redshirt freshman center Jon Christenson back. He started five of six games in the middle of the season but missed the past two games because of a knee injury."

Go Gophers!!

Thanks BleedGopher! I missed that thread. Why are they waiting so long on surgery for Johnson and Beal I wonder? They both have torn ACLs right?

If it is swelling I hope they use ice. I know this hasn't been a good option for at least one Gopher player but I am a firm believer in ice. And athletic trainers.

Definitely should NOT use ice. Acupuncture is the best way to treat ligament damage.
My mom's best friend says so!

Got to think Beal may very will be done after this latest setback. Marcus Jones could be another concern as now he has had two seasons derailed by knee injuries but he is still pretty young so he may be able to come back from this.

I thought I read a quote from Kill that said Jones won't need surgery. Hopefully that is the case.

As for Beal, surgery for a third time on one knee isn't good. I'm hopeful for the best but not expecting to see him on the field for again.

Wasn't saying Jones would need surgery but he has now missed what like 14-15 games in the past two seasons due to knee issues. Some guys just are not that durable and in the case of a guy like him who has so much of his value tied to his speed it is concerning to see him missing this many games so early in his Gopher Career.

edit: I guess the 9 games mentioned is over the past 2 years combined. He did so little this season I just took that as meaning he missed those games this season. But I guess now that I think of it I do remember him being on the field just not catching the ball.
