Per Charley Walters:
Blake Hoffarber, the former Gophers sharpshooter, is back in Minnesota after averaging 10 points and five rebounds for the Fos Ouest Provence team in France. Hoffarber, who led the team in three-point shooting (40 percent), lost his job when another foreign player who had been injured rejoined the roster. Only three foreign players are allowed on the roster.

Hoffarber's parents, Bruce and Shauna, recently visited the former Minnesota Mr. Basketball from Hopkins and saw him score a team-high 19 points in a victory over Quimper. Hoffarber, his girlfriend and his parents planned to attend Saturday's Gophers victory over St. Peter's at Williams Arena.

I heard him on the Tubby Smith show the other night. Sounds like he hopes to catch on to something else in Europe, but if that doesn't happen in a month or so he'll look for a Finance job.

I spoke to Bruce Hoffarber about the latest on Blake. He was signed to a month-to-month deal and the three foreign player were signed to a one-year deal. They had a player hurt and the team's insurance pays his salary until he is ready to return and once he did, they didn't have run for Blake. His agent is looking at opportunities in Germany, France, the Adriatic and Israel. His parents were overseas the last two weeks in November. They have two Americans in Sherman Gay of Loyola Marymount, who is their top scorer and Bill Clark from Duquesne. They have a Moraccan player who counts as a foreign player.
