Any update on Sam Maresh?

Does anyone know if Sam Maresh is still planning on going to a JuCo or if the Gophers are eventually in his plans? There's always finding him on Facebook and asking him, but I wanted to check first if it's already been established that he will be moving on to someplace else.

At any rate, I hope he finds success in whatever he ends up doing.
 



#1, I hope he has his academics and life focus back together. If Sam does and is interested in returning to MN with a new attitude, I hope Coach Kill gives him a look.
 

I'd be nice if both Maresh and the WR from last year who is at Iowa with him (Marquise Hill?) both come back next season.

I think that if they went to a CC the only way to get back to BCS school is to get their AA first..and no that wasn't a shot at Maresh.

Yeah, you're right. I should have said the following season.

No, Maresh does not need to graduate from JUCO to join a division one program, since he was a full qualifier out of high school. Not sure where we'd stand on Marquise Hill with the coaching change, but as a non qualifier out of high school he will have to graduate in order to be eligible to transfer to a four year school.
 



Got hold of him -- he actually got back to me the same day. Said he wasn't sure where he would end up at this point.
 


He's definitely been through a lot. It would be great to see him back in the maroon and gold once he gets his academic life sorted out. Who knows, maybe he'll end up back in Dinkytown after all?
 




Only if he gets his head on straight. There will be discipline under Kill and I don't know if he can handle that after being a premadonna!
 

Heard a story about Maresh at JUCO this last year. They had a game that was delayed due to lightning. Coach walked by Maresh and Sam was cutting up his arms with a razor blade, coach was like, Sam what are you doing? Maresh responded by saying I'm tough coach, I'm tough.

You don't want Sam on the Gophers team, trust me on this one. The kid has more than academic problems, he has a multitude of emotional and pyschological problems. His JUCO team has a bunch of kids getting D1 offers, coach said he has never had so many D1 coaches on campus and Sam isn't one of the guys they are looking at. The DT there just committed to Oregon, so he had a dang good DT to help him look good too.
 

A player told me that Lee Campbell did that razor blade thing before games as well. Gotta have a few loose screws to cut yourself to get hyped.

+1. If you love the program, you don't not want to see Sam back with the Gophers. And it pains me something fierce to admit that.
