It is the new normal. Due to cloak and dagger reasons to not tip off opponents, we often don't know the playing status of Gophers until game warmups are underway or the ball is kicked off. Kamal Martin was a "gametime decision" one week after his injury yet didn't play until several weeks later. Dunlap wasn't even on the radar and he was out last week. Etc. etc. With that in mind, any guesses who might be out unexpectedly, or even predictably this week against Northwestern? Morgan is a big question mark for sure, and that has its own thread elsewhere.

Anyone else leave the game last week or any other whispers of any other player dinged up that might not see the field this week?

This doesn't really address your question, but it is related. In a breakdown of the Gophers for Inside NU, Burns says that Dunlap is a go this weekend:

INU: Offensively, the Gophers have stuck to the run game on an overwhelming majority of plays this season, though they obviously broke that trend when playing catch-up against the Hawkeyes. How impressive have Rodney Smith and the offensive line been, and is the offense striking the right balance?
RB: Iowa taking the lead off of their first possession was the first time that the Gophers had trailed in over a month, so when you’re playing in such positive game-script situations, you’re going to run the football. Especially when you win your four October games by a total of 127 points.
Rodney Smith has been the main engine to the Gophers three-headed running attack with Mo Ibrahim and Shannon Brooks, and Smith is now second in Gopher history in rushing yards. He’s been most effective in outside zone for the Gophers this season, but he’s a true do-it-all back. The offensive line passed their test at home against Penn State, but then struggled against AJ Epenesa and Iowa last week. The Minnesota Moving Company has come a long way since the non-conference, and they’ll be getting back their starting right guard in Curtis Dunlap this weekend.

Even though I have recovered from my early season knee injury and much as I wanted to I won't be in the stands at Northwestern ... so PJ is probably not going to pick me out of the stands to play for this weeks game.

However, I will be at the Wisconsin game...

What about the kicker, Michael Lantz?? That was another mysterious injury. Is he back for Northwestern??

Paulson? Seemed like we had Witham in more than usual last week.

Pretty much along those lines, we're also starting to get into the territory of what true FR start to see some playing time without burning the redshirt? It might be a LITTLE early, as there are a possible 4 games remaining starting with Saturday, but we could start to see some of the true FR the staff thinks highly of; probably more likely against NU than Wisky next week.

Who could some of those players be? Richter, Carter, MJ Anderson on the DL? Gordon at LB?
