"In the recruiting process, none of them were promised minutes and starting positions and shots. ... None of these kids were recruited that way, so now they come in with an idea they're going to earn it and they're going to do this together and if they do it together, they've got a chance."

What a novel idea.

These Kids are great!

say what you want, this is a good group of kids. It's one of the most unselfish teams I've ever seen at Kentucky. Kidd-Gilchrist gave up his starting spot one game in the SEC tournament because he said the team needed to get Darius Miller going. Miller could have started for any team in the country and he had to come off the bench, never heard a peep out of him all year. Now's he's going to get drafted along with these 5. I think 1 press conference is better than 5

This press conference is nearly as arrogant and self-serving as LeBron's "The Decision". I have the same reply. ...

Who F'ing cares? Get over yourselves.

What's next, are we going to see them on Oprah's laughingstock of a network?

Warning: Don't lose your breakfast when you read Calipari's final quote in the story.

what other way are they suppose to announce it? Basically every player that will go in the first round has some sort of press conference... should we have not created a video for Trevor coming back... get over yourself dude. these guys were class acts and this is nothing like the decision. You can hate Kentucky but this is a very poor example.

Coach Cal just exudes class. It may look like hair gel, but it's class.

They're gone. It's ridiculous how much Kentucky has to replace next year. According to the article, they will have to replace 93.3% of this year's scoring and 94% of this year's rebounding. And they'll still probably be ranked in the preseason top 5. It also shows just how talented this year's team was - their 6 best players are all going to the NBA and all have a decent shot at going in the first round. According to nbadraft.net (no idea how credible or accurate the site is), the 5 that declared today will all go in the 1st round and senior Darius Miller will be the 5th pick in round 2. They were practically an NBA team last year...

Astonishing numbers. Typically I would dislike a powerhouse team like this but the way the played hard D and unselfish O, it was a great group.

Stop the whining.

I normally dont like teams like UK, however this one was easy to cheer for - they played together, were not hot dogs at all, and .....

WON.

Sounds like jealousy to me.

I'm glad they're gone, but this just saves Calipari on their salaries for next year. He'll find another five lottery picks to spend, what was it, $200k apiece on? When you have that sort of money, and the sort of "ethics" Calipari's demonstrated in the past, it's not like you have to worry about rebuilding. As far as them announcing it by press conference, I don't mind it. At least they didn't shave their answers into their head.

Really dislike the one and done scenario, but have to admit they were very good/talented.

I would really like to see the NBA adopt the baseball system, but I don't see any changes coming soon.

I know this sounds really old-school, but do you really need a news conference to announce you are leaving school to pursue the nba?

Hey dpo, notice question mark???

The best team in college basketball over the last 15 or so years (since the 1996 Kentucky team at least)

Certainly that is a reasonable argument. One could even argue, the best team in college basketball money could buy.

Haha, possibly. Think how much better this 2011-2012 Kentucky version could be if they had someone write all their papers/do all their homework and could solely focus on basketball.....
